Slave MarketsReport

English:Slave Markets · Locations

A slave camp in the South Wetlands that neither farms nor mines. Its only industry is sorting people, pricing them and shipping them south — and it is also one of the densest concentrations of unique recruits in the game.

🗺 See this place on the map ↗

The Slave Markets is a slave camp in the South Wetlands, run by the Slave Traders, with the Slave Market Master living in the Noble House inside. You can find it by walking there, or by reading the Map of the United Cities (Extended Territories).

What separates it from every other slave camp is something it does not have.

Nothing is produced here

Every other slave holding has an industry: Port North and Stone Camp quarry stone, Slave Farm grows crops. The Slave Markets has not a single industrial building — the slaves here do not farm, do not mine, do not work.

So what are they doing? Queuing.

The region's spawn tables lay out the whole supply chain: the Red Sabres and Swamp Ninjas take people across the wetlands, the captives arrive at the Slave Markets to be sorted, priced and sold, and then get moved south to Slave Farm South to actually work. This is a transfer point, not a factory.

The Used Clothing Shop only exists in two places — here and Eyesocket. Everything it stocks is basic travel clothing, which makes it genuinely useful to a squad that has just started out.

Who lives here

The Slave Market Master is a Traders Guild noble carrying a Longsword and wearing a Noble's Robe. He is permanently flanked by 4 hooded Empire Noble Guards and 4 Samurai Heavies. He wears Specialist armour (10% chance of Masterwork), with weapons by Catun Scrapmaster or Skeleton Smiths. His pockets hold an Advanced First Aid Kit, Luxury Goods and Hashish.

Ugh! Rotten peasant! Shoo! — Slave Market Master

The bar, meanwhile, is one of the game's rare unique-recruit clusters:

The unique slave trader Garret can also spawn here, though he is not recruitable.

TipEveryone on that list except Wall Man can also spawn in Eyesocket; Wall Man appears in many more places besides. If you are collecting these faces, alternating between the two towns beats camping one of them.

What it means for the player

The Slave Markets is useful three ways at once:

  1. Recruiting. One outpost that can hold five unique characters plus a stack of Slave Recruits is unusually dense.
  2. Bounties. The prisoner cages here can be used to hand in characters wanted by the United Cities — no need to haul them all the way to a city.
  3. Dismantling it. Kill or imprison the Slave Market Master and the whole Slave Markets becomes ruins. If he and Slave Mistress Grace of Slave Farm South fall together, Slave Farm South is taken over by Free Traders and half-rebuilt into a farming town — the most substantive blow anyone can land on slavery in this part of the map.
NoteThe guards here are not filler. The eight bodyguards in the Noble House are regular Empire troops in Specialist armour. Before going after the Master, make sure you can beat those eight.
