Corpse FurnaceReport
English:Corpse Furnace · Game Mechanics
An exterior furnace built from eight iron plates that destroys a corpse along with everything on it. The game's own description is one line — bodies attract predators, predators eat you. So the number of furnaces standing in a town is that town's daily body count.
A Corpse Furnace is an exterior building used to dispose of dead characters. A character carrying a corpse can use the machine to destroy that corpse along with every item the corpse was holding.
The game's own description of it is a single line:
A safe and efficient way to deal with corpses. Bodies attract predators, predators eat you.
That sentence explains both why the building exists and why it turns up on some towns' building lists.
Building one
It costs 8 Iron Plates, takes 0 hours to raise, and unlocks after you research Corpse Disposal. In the Build Mode menu it sits under the Power category — not because it draws power, but because that is simply how the menu is cut, and first-time builders routinely fail to find it.
A town's furnaces are a casualty report
Some towns come with furnaces already built, and those can be used legally. Where they stand is itself information:
| Location | Count |
|---|---|
| Mongrel | 8 |
| Black Scratch | 2 |
| Flotsam Village | 1 |
| Sho-Battai | 1 |
| Slave Farm South | 1 |
| Stone Camp | 1 |
| Reaver Camps | 1 each, except The Outlands camp |
Mongrel has eight. That town is under permanent siege by Fogmen, and eight furnaces are the arithmetic of it. Slave Farm South needs a furnace on permanent standby — a farm that wrote its own mortality rate into its building list.
The Reaver exception is worth remembering: of the three Reaver Camps in the world, only the one in The Outlands has no furnace — which is exactly why that camp is singled out in its own article.
