Iron plates are a vital resource created at an Iron Refinery through the smelting of Raw Iron. Alternatively, they are also often times found in mechanical animals as loot. It is specifically stored in Storage: Iron Plates.
They can be used as is in the production of weapons and construction of buildings, or further refined into Steel Bars.
Starting out, the production of iron plates must be operated by at least one worker, though through research, can eventually be turned into an automated process.
Iron plates are extremely common loot in the Kenshi world, whether you're scavenging an Ancient Lab, Lost Armoury, or helping yourself to an unwary trader's stock. They can be acquired from merchants in most cities.
