Holy Mines (Skinner's Roam)Report

English:Holy Mines · Locations

Holy Nation mining operations run on slave labour — five of them across the continent, three in Skinner's Roam. Dig by day, caged by night, with a High Overseer in charge. You cannot buy slaves here, but you can carry them out one at a time.

Holy Mines are not one place but a series of similar minor outposts in Holy Nation territory. They are mining operations that use slave labour, managed by High Overseers.

There are five Holy Mines in total:

TipThis site covers the two in Okran's Gulf separately under Holy Mines (Okran's Gulf). Different article name, identical mechanics and garrison.

How the place runs

Dig by day, caged by night.

Lower Servants — along with any enemies captured from the surrounding area, such as bandits — are kept caged in Slave Shops during the night and made to go to work during the day.

NoteYou cannot trade slaves here. The mines have Slave Shop buildings, but the player is not able to buy or sell slaves at this location. For that you have to go to United Cities territory.

Lower Servants are mostly criminals sentenced to repentance through prison labour, drawn from groups like the Starving Bandits and Dust Bandits. They are worked by Slavers hired by the Holy Nation as well as by Holy Nation soldiers. The wiki records a telling detail: the Slavers generally hurl insults at them, while the soldiers prefer to remind them of the virtues of serving Okran.

Garrison

UnitComposition
Holy Mines Boss x11x High Overseer, 6x Paladin
Holy Farm Cage Guards x21x Slaver, 3x Holy Sentinel, 3–6x Lower Servant
Holy Gate Guards Small x12–3x Holy Sentinel
Holy Materials Storage x2—
Holy General Storage x1—

High Overseers look similar to High Paladins, but they carry no Paladin's Cross and wear no helmet. Despite the High Paladin colours, they are no stronger than a regular Paladin.

TipKilling the High Overseer will not destroy the Holy Mine. There is no "kill the boss and it collapses" mechanic here.

Tactics

With Stealth and Assassination around 50, a Holy Mine can be cleared without a straight fight — knock people out and kidnap them one by one.

NoteBeing knocked out near the gates is dangerous. Characters who go down near the entrance may be enslaved by the resident Overseer. If you are going to start something, do not start it at the gate.

World states

Holy Mines are affected by several world states, producing different town overrides:

TipAll four are different states of the same location, not four different places.

Skinner's Roam also contains the already-abandoned Holy Mine Ruins — the Holy Nation pushed its mines all the way to the edge of the Deadlands, and after the sand walls swept through, kept the dead ones on its books anyway.

Discovered by

Reading the Glorious Holy Map reveals all Holy Mines at 100%, along with the Holy Farms, Holy Military Bases, Bad Teeth, Blister Hill and Stack. The map's own description is candid: "Some of the farms and mines can be good for trading."

What it means for the player

Holy Mines are the easiest place to pick up people inside Holy Nation territory. Freed Lower Servants will follow the player for a while and then open dialogue; pick the right options and you can recruit them.

For an anti-slavery run these five mines are the most direct lever available: small, lightly garrisoned, and each one already holding people.
