Stobe's GardenReport
English:Stobe's Garden · Locations
Fertile sand flats. Reavers. Main settlements: Ark, Crab Village, Reaver Camp.
One of the few patches in the south-eastern badlands where anything will grow, at the price of three gangs wanting it at once. Stobe's enormous corpse lies out on the sand — Skeletons passing by stop to mourn, then go back to robbing each other across the graveyard.

Notable units
| Name | Type | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Valamon | Hostile boss | The Ark, the Reaver HQ — north of centre in this zone, inside the throne room | Leader of the Reavers, a Shek super boss. Carries a Meitou longsword in [Specialist] armour, with a 25% chance of [Masterwork]. While he lives the zone spawns Reaver patrols at weight 30, the highest here; kill or abduct him and the Ark falls to the Crab Raiders, and if he and the Crab Queen both go down the Ark is left to a crowd of drifters with the throne room turned into a canteen. |
| Reaver Ironclad | Hostile | The Ark, both Reaver camps, and patrols across the zone (1 Ironclad, 4–7 Blooded, 1–6 slaves) | The strongest Reavers short of Valamon. They drag unconscious characters nearby straight into slavery, which makes them the unit to watch here. [Standard] grade armour with a 20% chance of [High]. Reavers asleep in beds at the camps and the Ark can be picked up and carried off even while hostile. |
| Reaver Slave | Recruitable | In the cages at the Ark and the Reaver camps, or walking with patrols as human shields | Conscripted meat shields. Their owners order them to attack the player, so you have to drop the owners first without catching the slave in the crossfire; only honourable or smart personalities will follow you out, while the cowardly and the dumb would rather stay in the cage. |
| Upgraded Skeleton Bandit | Hostile | Patrols the zone (1 leading 10–15 Skeleton Bandits, weight 10) | The elite Skeleton that leads the column. Full-size columns only exist while the Elder lives; once he dies they drop to broken squads of 1–5 battered Skeleton Bandits. If the Southern Hive Queen is still alive when the Elder dies, Southern Hive squads start appearing here as well. |
| Crab Raider | Hostile | Crab Village and patrols across the zone (8–14 of them with 4–10 crabs) | Hostile to neutral players unless you have allied with the Crab Raiders first, by winning the Crab Tournament or declaring your love of crabs to the Crab Queen. After the Crab Queen dies they shrink to 1 raider with 3–5 crabs. Wearing dyed Crab Raider armour makes every wild crab treat you as one of their own. |
| Crab Man | Merchant | Crab Village, the crab shop (this zone's Crab Village sits on a plateau beside a collapsed, rotting lagoon platform) | A randomly named Crab Raider shopkeeper who sells crabs whether you are allied or not. Every bed in Crab Village is free, though the residents usually have them occupied. The shop disappears the moment the Crab Queen is killed or captured. |
| Crabsmith | Merchant | Crab Village, the crab armour smithy | The only shop in the zone that can absorb loot in bulk. The full Crab Armour set and its blueprints require an alliance with the Crab Raiders first; the Crab Helmet is an excellent piece for crossing the south-eastern badlands and the Ashlands. |
| Black Dragon Genin | Hostile | Patrols the zone (squads of 9–11) | The only zone in the game that spawns Black Dragon Ninja patrols, and only while Dimak is alive; she herself sits in the Tower Of Ninjas, not here. |
| Blood Spider | Hostile | Tower of Spiders (30–40 aged specimens, age multiplier 1.6–2.0) | The tower guarantees 6 Ancient Science Books at around 5,000 Cats each, plus Skeleton Repair Kits and other odds and ends — 20 items in all, refreshing every 24 hours. The location is only marked on your map by reading a Tech Hunter map. |
| Stobe | Neutral | Out on the sand east of the Reaver camp and west of the Ark (an enormous corpse) | Both zones — Stobe's Gamble and Stobe's Garden — are named for him. The Skeleton Bandits hold him as god and martyr, and the Elder calls him the exterminator of the human plague; Skeleton characters who walk up to him get mourning lines of their own. Half-buried nearby is a huge unexploded missile, one of the few pieces of space wreckage on the map that is obviously placed on purpose. |
| Bounty Hunter | Neutral | Roams the zone (groups of 1–6) | They only move on players carrying a bounty and are otherwise passive. Anyone who has come this far into the south-eastern corner is most likely chasing the high Anti-Slaver bounties. |
| Black Gorillo | Hostile | Roams the zone alone (1 at a time, age multiplier 80) | The black-furred cousin of the white Gorillo, with 80 in attack, defence, Strength and Toughness, but it always travels alone and is easy to walk around or kite. |
| Landbat | Hostile | Anywhere in the zone (flocks of 1–10) | Their main habitat is neighbouring Stobe's Gamble and this is their secondary range; a flock coming in at once is dangerous for a starting squad. |
| Scavenger | Hostile | Roams the zone (packs of 3–20, only while Gutterhead is alive) | Their leader Gutterhead is not in this zone — he is in the Old Control Tower in Venge, with a 10,000 Cats United Cities bounty on him; once he goes down the Scavenger squads here stop spawning. |
History
- Stobe died here, with an unexploded missile half-buried not far off; two zones carry his name and nobody remembers why.
- The Reavers built their capital, the Ark, on the rusted shell of a First Empire factory, and raid and preach out of it.
- Reavers, Crab Raiders and Skeleton Bandits have been beating on each other for years; the only thing they share is a hatred of the United Cities.
- One reading holds that this improbably fertile ground was humanity's last refuge after the First Empire fell, and the starting point of the long regression that followed.
