Lord OhtaReport
English:Lord Ohta · Characters
A United Cities noble living in the noble house in Heft. He is the only member of the entire Noble Circle with no world state of his own — his existence is tied solely to Emperor Tengu.
Lord Ohta is a member of the United Cities Noble Circle, a human Greenlander, and the owner of a noble house in Heft. He is flagged with the Brave personality.
Heft is the physical centre of imperial power — Emperor Tengu's palace and the diplomat Koin are both here, and Ohta is the Noble Circle member stationed in the same city.
A noble with no story
Most of the other members of the Noble Circle have their own side content, world states or buried history: Inaba, Sanda, the Luquin affair, Eyegore's origins. Ohta has none of it.
- He is the only United Cities noble in the entire game with no world state of his own.
- The one consequence of touching him is the generic one: killing or imprisoning Ohta may trigger the Noble's Wrath event and change what Samurai guards say to you.
- Even "Noble's Wrath" is not tailored to him — stealing from any noble house, or roughing up any noble at all, can set it off: within 2 to 100 hours the United Cities or the Traders Guild will send a force led by an Elite Manhunter, with a further 3 to 5 Elite Manhunters, to attack the player's base.
There is one more setting that says more about his standing than anything else: the moment Emperor Tengu dies, Ohta despawns from the game outright. He does not flee, does not succeed to anything, is not purged — he is simply gone. It is very nearly a way of writing "this character's existence depends entirely on the emperor" into the code.
The fattest robbery target in Heft
Light as his lore is, in practical play Ohta is the target in Heft most worth going after — not because of him, but because of the 5 hooded Imperial Noble Guards standing around him:
- All of them in Masterwork armour
- All of them carrying weapons made by the Edgewalkers
This is one of the highest tiers of complete kit a mid-game player can reach, and there are five sets of it in one place.
What Ohta himself carries is rather ordinary: a Ringed Sabre (the sabre-class model with the highest total damage), a few pieces of the luxury goods common to noble houses (average price only 240 Cats), one Advanced First Aid Kit, a bottle of Bloodrum and a portion of cooked vegetables.
Combat
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Strength / Toughness / Dexterity | 42 – 48 |
| All weapon skills | 42 – 48 |
| Melee Attack / Defence | 42 – 48 |
| Athletics / Swimming / Field Medic | 42 – 48 |
| Dodge / Martial Arts | 1.5 – 7.5 |
| Assassination | 22.5 |
(±3 random variation.)
An across-the-board forty-something puts him in the upper-middle range for a noble — he is not incapable of fighting, but the real threat comes from those 5 bodyguards, not from him. His Dodge and Perception, as with every noble, are effectively zero.
