WolvesReport

English:Wolves · Factions

The animal faction shared by wild Bonedogs and Boneyard Wolves. It never appears in the faction list, its relations cannot be moved, and the only conversation available with it is a fight.

Wolves is a faction name you will never find in the faction list. The game uses it to file wild Bonedogs and Boneyard Wolves together, and the wiki flags it outright as a "not real" faction.

What "not real" means

Kenshi carries a set of factions that exist only in the data. They never show up in the relations interface, and there is no way to change how they feel about you. Drifters and Vagrants marking unorganised people, Ancient Ruins and Abandoned Towns marking places, and a whole rank of animal factions all belong to this class. The full list is in Factions.

The practical consequence is short: Wolves have no leader, no territory, no bounty to hand in and nobody to talk to. Every repair method described in Faction Relations does nothing here.

They are two units of one faction, and the Boneyard Wolf is a Bonedog with its stats doubled. Domesticated Bonedogs are not in this faction. The ones you buy or raise belong to your own squad, which is why they will happily fight their wild kin.

Coexistence with Landbats

The only relation on record for Wolves is coexistence with Landbats, meaning the two never attack each other. Their ranges overlap around Flats Lagoon, so seeing both walk the same ground without incident is normal. The one caught in between is you.

Wolf Dens

A Wolf Den is a randomly spawning animal nest tagged with both the Wildlife and the Wolves factions. Thirteen zones can spawn them: Bast, the Border Zone, Darkfinger, Heng, the Hidden Forest, Leviathan Coast, Northern Coast, Okran's Gulf, Okran's Pride, Okran's Valley, Skinner's Roam, Stenn Desert and the Eye.

A den holds a resident population of 10. The nocturnal squad is 1 to 6 Bonedogs at age multipliers of 0.6 to 0.7; the den squad is 1 to 7, of which one or two sit at 0.6 to 0.8 and the rest at 0.1 to 0.3, which is a litter of pups. The ground is littered with assorted bones and droppings, and the nest also spawns items:

TipFor a starting squad the point of a Wolf Den is usually training rather than loot. Bonedogs charge you, and they are scavengers that will not eat a character who is still alive — the worst that happens to someone knocked down is being bitten awake.

About the name

"Wolves" is the translation of a faction id. There is not a single actual wolf in it: the Bonedog is a canine, and the Boneyard Wolf, by the wiki's own admission, is closer to a bear in size and coat.
