Notable units

NameTypeWhereNotes
HobbsRecruitableAround the Deadcat Bar in the Fishing VillageA mad old man fond of telling legends, and he spawns in this fishing village more often than anywhere else; humour whatever he is going on about and he joins for free, which makes him many players' earliest squad member (insult him and the chance to recruit him is gone for good)
HorseRecruitableThe Deadcat Bar in the Fishing VillageA Shek treasure hunter wearing red war paint no other Shek warrior has, specified to appear in the Northern Coast fishing village
SomanRecruitableThe Fishing VillageA female recruit whose family fishing trade has gone under; she says she has been piecing blueprints together since she was small, and is better with engineering than with nets
Green FingerRecruitableThe Fishing VillageA farmer who has had enough of living next door to the Cannibals; cowardly personality, and the cheapest unique recruit in the zone
Deadcat BarMerchantThe Fishing Village (Northern Coast)A bar and cheap bunkhouse inside a swamp dome — the only place in the zone where you can sleep or pick up unique recruits
Deadcat Big ShopMerchantThe Fishing Village (Northern Coast)The zone's only general goods trader, with a fishmonger alongside it; outside this village the entire Northern Coast has no place to trade at all
CannibalsHostile squadWanders across the whole region; there are also randomly generated Cannibal camps (one of the most common camps in this region)Groups of six to twenty-five. They charge at anyone they see, and those they knock out are carried off to their camp and locked in cages; once the cages are full they start beating prisoners to death and throwing them into the cooking pit. This area sits between the Cannibal Plains and Darkfinger and is the corridor they must pass through as they spread south, so you run into them more often than the map makes it look.
Starving BanditsHostile squadRoams the whole zone (the northernmost edge of the range of The Holy Nation's 祈禱日, a stretch the patrols cannot cover)One leader with six to eight followers, and all they ever talk about is taking your food. Their gear is ragged and each of them is weak, but they come as a whole group at once, and for a squad that is just starting out they really can be a disaster. After knocking you out they usually only take the food and leave; the rest of your belongings are normally still there — but raw meat taken off your animals amounts to killing the pet outright.
BonedogHostile wildlifeRandomly generated wolf dens, and roaming across the zone (nocturnal packs of at most six)Wild Bonedogs are territorial, and will pounce as soon as you come near their patrol routes or their dens. They follow the smell of corpses, so you run into them most easily around battlefields and beside bodies. They do not chew on people who are still alive, but their bites are fast and they hurt.
Samurai RogueHostile squadRoams the whole zone (appears only under a specific world state)Only after Inaba, Yoshinaga, Nagata, Sanda and Emperor Tengu are all out of play do these masterless former imperial samurai start spawning in this zone, in squads of four to thirteen. They still wear Samurai Armour and still carry Katanas, but what they say is for you to hand over your food — far more trouble than bandits.
