English:Lost Library · Locations

A class of book repository left behind by the Second Empire, scattered across the continent. The valuable thing here is not the books — it is the three maps buried among them, guaranteed at every single site.

A Lost Library is a book repository left behind by the Second Empire. These are not one place but a type of ruin — scattered across the whole continent, all built to the same pattern, all empty for a thousand years.

An intrepid enough adventurer can occasionally turn up an Ancient Science Book inside. But the real reason to make the trip is something else.

The maps are the treasure, not the books

Every Lost Library guarantees three documents:

DocumentQtyWhat it does
Old Treasure Map1Marks a random lab-grade ruin. The Ancient Tech Lab is the most likely single result (15%)
Engineers Map1Marks a random workshop — Post-Ancient Workshop 43%, Deadland Workshop 35%, Dead Workshop 17%, Workshop Complex 4%
Ancient Military Documents1Points at ancient military installations

In other words, the Lost Library is the entry point to the entire ancient-ruin circuit. You will not get rich here, but you will find out where to go next. That fact is spread across half a dozen wiki pages and rarely stated in one place.

The upper floor also frequently holds an empty Medical Workbench bearing the name of some old organisation. The contents were carried off long ago; only the label remains.

Where they are

Lost Libraries appear in the following regions:

NoteA Lost Library is not a Library Ruin. Library Ruins are the destroyed version: nothing but Damaged Books strewn across the floor, no maps and no science books. Both exist in Shun, and the names are one word apart. People walk to the wrong one constantly.

What is on the floor

Beyond the three guaranteed documents, the scattered loot includes:

The guard situation is inconsistent: some Lost Libraries hold large groups of Blood Spiders, others are completely unattended. Blood Spiders will eat a downed character, so the "go in, get knocked out, withdraw later" approach does not work at the ones that have them.

Finding one

If you do not want to wander, the Tech Hunter Library Map is the only shortcut — it points at a Lost Library 100% of the time, unlike the other treasure maps that roll across a table of targets. It is also cheap, at a value of 100 Cats.

What it means for the player

The Lost Library is an intelligence stop, not a vault. For a squad that has just become capable of running ruins, the usage pattern is:

  1. Buy a Tech Hunter Library Map and locate the nearest Lost Library.
  2. Go in, take the three documents (and any Ancient Science Books lying around).
  3. Cash the Engineers Map for Engineering Research and the Old Treasure Map for AI Cores.
TipThe entry barrier here is the lowest of any ancient ruin — no acid rain, no Security Spiders, worst case a pack of Blood Spiders. If you want to start running ruins but are not ready for an Ancient Tech Lab, this is exactly where to begin.
