Gohan (ご飯, "cooked rice" in Japanese) is a food item purchased from relevant traders or created in a Cooking Stove. It has the same nutritional value as a Foodcube. This food is easiest to find in The Swamp, where Riceweed is abundant. It will also be sold at a very cheap markup in places which use the "swamper" Trade Culture, which causes it have the best nutritional/cat value.

Thanks to this being the only crop-based recipe that does not require water, it's the only food that can be grown and made in The Deadlands without importing water by placing respective Hydroponics grow-beds on the roofs of structures.

Gohan uses approximately 1.49 water/unit to grow indoors or non-rainy but suitable environments, and none to cook. All water logistics are eliminated entirely if grown in rainy environments like The Swamp, The Deadlands or Vain, as rain will automatically water the Greenfruit and Riceweed, making it, situationally, the single most water-efficient food item in the game.

Initially, this item had an identical icon to Rice Bowl. That icon was a top view of a closed lid on the container used to hold food.
