ScraphouseReport

English:Scraphouse · Locations

An ancient factory east of Black Desert City, still open for business and staffed by two Skeletons. It sells AI Cores, Ancient Science Books and top-tier weapons, and the whole area is under acid rain — the most tempting and least robbable shop in the game.

Welcome, dear human, and please excuse the mess. Anything shiny, Dack hoards. A simpleton really. — Quin

The Scraphouse is a weapons-and-goods merchant operating out of an ancient factory just east of Black Desert City, in the Deadlands. Its status in the game is unusual: it is not a settlement at all, it is a shop — but one that carries more value than most cities put together.

Where it is

The Deadlands is where the Skeletons drew their border along a line of permanent acid rain, and where some of the apparently scrapped iron spiders on the ground are only sleeping. The Scraphouse sits in the middle of it.

NoteThe whole surrounding area is under acid rain. An unprotected squad will be corroded into uselessness before it reaches the door. This is the Scraphouse's most effective defence, and it never has to draw a weapon.

Besides simply walking there, reading the Old Treasure Map marks the Scraphouse on the player's map. That is itself a hint: the bulk of the shop's stock probably came out of an ancient stash of valuables.

Who lives here

The shop is run by the Skeleton Quin, with his companion Dack standing beside him. Their bickering is one of the most-quoted Skeleton exchanges in the game: Quin apologises for the mess, explains that Dack hoards anything shiny and is "a simpleton really", then adds that Dack's mind was fried when he was hit on the head "back in the cha— uh… back some time ago". The word he swallows points at the Chaos Age.

Neither shopkeeper is a pushover, and the guard detail is harder still:

What is here

The stock comes in two layers. The first is the set of guaranteed one-time spawns, generated through the Artifact system and never replaced once sold:

ItemQtyPrice each
AI Core325,000 Cats
Engineering Research38,000 Cats
Ancient Science Book135,000 Cats
Map of the Ashlands110,000 Cats
Ashlander Stormgoggles1120 Cats
Skeleton Smiths [Mk I] Short-Cleaver1—
Catun Scrapmaster [Catun No.3] Flesh Cleaver1—
Edgewalkers [Edge Type 1] Falling Sun1—
Specialist Armoured Rag Skirt1—
Specialist Stealth Leg (Right)1—

The second layer is the regular stock, 160–240 items refreshing every 48 hours. Weapons and crossbows are near-certain to roll; rare blueprints have a relative chance of only 7, and hi-tech junk 30. Manufacturer weighting for weapons is Skeleton Smiths 100, Edgewalkers 30, Catun Scrapmaster 5 — so a Catun No.3 here is very unlikely, but not impossible.

The regular weapon pool covers essentially every melee class: Katana, Guardless Katana, Nodachi, Wakizashi, Longsword, Paladin's Cross, Combat Cleaver, Long Cleaver, Moon Cleaver, Flesh Cleaver, Falling Sun, Fragment Axe, Polearm, Heavy Polearm, Naginata, Naginata Katana, Horse Chopper, Desert Sabre, Foreign Sabre, Holed Sabre, Ringed Sabre, Jitte, Heavy Jitte, Ninja Blade, Mercenary Club, Spiked Club, Plank and Staff. Crossbows are Eagle's Cross, Oldworld Bow MkI, Oldworld Bow MkII and Ranger, all common.

Components and materials make up the rest, and they are not cheap: CPU Unit (6,000 Cats), Power Core (3,000 Cats), Robotics Components (2,838 Cats), Generator Core (2,755 Cats), Copper Alloy Plates (608 Cats), Motor (421 Cats), Crossbow Parts (408 Cats), Press (324 Cats), Book (300 Cats), Electrical Components (216 Cats), Fuel (192 Cats), Gears (162 Cats), Iron Plates (135 Cats), Hinge (81 Cats), Hacksaw (72 Cats), Damaged Book (6 Cats), plus Steel Bars, Spring Steel, Tools and Skeleton Repair Kit.

Why the player cares

The Scraphouse is a mandatory mid-to-late stop for one reason: AI Cores do not respawn. There are very few places in the game that reliably sell them, and this one has three at once. If you intend to finish the high tech tree, you will make this trip eventually.

Stealing is extremely hard. Dack and a large guard detail circulate among the crates, and the patrol routes put most containers under observation. What does work is the corners: some general storage containers — especially barrels, which are never locked — can be reached from outside the walls or from specific dead angles, and full darkness in certain spots blocks the guards' line of sight. Note that security spiders detect stealthed characters very quickly. Carrying off a meaningful haul demands high Thievery and Lockpicking.

TipThe guards' patrol patterns are strict, and that cuts both ways: in some positions they cannot hold eye contact with a suspect long enough to trigger an alarm. Watching a full patrol cycle before you move is worth more than sneaking in blind.
