A bookshop inside the walls of Black Scratch holding the most complete collection of blueprints and lore books on the continent — and the single reason most players are willing to cross the bandit country of the Outlands to get there.
The Great Library is a unique building in Black Scratch holding the largest collection of Blueprints and Lore Books in all of Kenshi.
Why the trip is worth it
The Outlands is ownerless country — the Tech Hunters hold only what is inside the walls of Black Scratch, and everyone outside those walls wants to turn a passing squad into merchandise. Even so, most squads put this region on the itinerary sooner or later, and there is essentially one reason: most blueprints can be bought nowhere else.
You can reach the walls by exploration, or by acquiring and reading the Map of the United Cities (Central Territories).
The shop and the shopkeeper
The counter is staffed by the Bookshop Trader, a randomly named Skeleton of the P4 Unit model belonging to the Tech Hunters. The shop is open by day only, holds a maximum stock of 200 items and restocks every 15 hours — a squad hoping to clear the shelves in one visit should plan for more than one visit.
Besides the trader, a Mercenary and a Ninja Guard are stationed inside.
Elsewhere in the same town
Black Scratch is also home to the Tech Hunters' faction headquarters (the Tech Hunter Bar). Unique recruits found here include Wall Man and the Bard, and Bo, an important figure among the Anti-Slavers, lives here as well.
