Spider PlainsReport

English:Spider Plains · Locations

Arid hills. Shek Kingdom (nominally). Main settlements: Last Stand, Berserker Village.

🗺 See this place on the map ↗

The Shek Kingdom once held these hills as a front line; what is left is an abandoned Old Frontlines and a scattering of exiles who will not go home. What actually runs the place are the Skin Spiders — slower than you are, but once you are down they have all the time they need.

Notable units

NameTypeWhereNotes
GhostHostile bossBerserker Village (east of Last Stand)Born Suchon; exiled from the Shek Kingdom after a defeat, he became the Berserkers' leader. Carries an Ancient fragment axe in Shoddy armour. Last Stand in this zone has a police station, the nearest place to cash him in, and the collapsed Storm House in the village is on sale for 6,000 Cats. Note that Berserker Village is often raided by Skin Spiders, so there is a chance he is eaten before you ever arrive.
Flying BullHostile bossNot in this zone himself — he is at New Kralia over in the Stenn Desert; while he lives this zone spawns Kral's Chosen squads of 5–8Leader of Kral's Chosen, born Ida, carrying the unique bull horn axe granted by King Shager. When he dies the Kral's Chosen here degrade into broken squads of 3–6.
Tora the FearlessHostileNot in this zone herself — she is at the Exile Camp in the Border Zone; while she lives this zone spawns Band of Bones squads of 4–8Leader of the Band of Bones. After her death the Band of Bones here shrink to 2–4 and their weighting drops from 5 to 2. Her history is almost identical to Ghost's — both are horn-cut, exiled Shek warriors — except that Ghost was respected before his fall.
KangRecruitableLast Stand bar (may also turn up in Admag or Squin)A Shek with 20 in every combat skill and a berserk personality, whose opening line is: hire me or get out, and if you get out you will die like a fool. 1,500 cheaper than Rane the Giant for the same fighting weight.
Rane the GiantRecruitableLast Stand bar (may also turn up in Admag or Squin)A former Hundred Guardian whose title came from Esata the Stone Golem herself, later demoted after losing a duel. 20 in every combat-related skill, the most expensive and the strongest recruit in the zone.
OronRecruitableLast Stand bar (may also turn up in Admag or Squin)A Shek retainer whose own words are: I need to be bought out, 3,500 Cats will free me from my lord, serfdom is killing my soul and I need to fight. Honourable personality, skills of around 8, but cheap.
RukaRecruitableLast Stand bar (may also turn up in Admag or Squin)A hornless Shek woman, cut and struck from the rolls; brave personality, 10 in combat skills and completely free — the best value early Shek companion. With a human or a Hive in the squad she will ask whether you are staring at her horns.
BugmasterQuest-relatedLast Stand's bar carries dialogue of its own about him (the Bugmaster himself sits on his crater throne in neighbouring Arach)Last Stand is where old Shek come to prepare to ask the Bugmaster for a glorious death, which is why the bar has a whole unique dialogue set. Come back after killing him and the barkeep congratulates you and stands you a free grog.
Hundred GuardianNeutralLeads the Shek patrols (1–2 of them with 4–8 Shek warriors, weight 4) and serves as police inside Last StandThe Shek Kingdom's hundred best warriors. Once allied with the Shek, talk to a Hundred Guardian captain who is not on town duty and they will escort you free for 3 days or hold your outpost for 2. Ally with the Holy Nation instead and their patrols attack you unprovoked. After Esata falls they all defect to Flying Bull and become Kral's Chosen.
BerserkerHostileBerserker Village plus roaming the zone (2–8 at weight 10 while Ghost lives; 2–5 stragglers at weight 5 after he dies)Shek who have refused civilisation for a savage life; berserk personality, Shoddy armour, Ancient weapons.
Kral's ChosenHostileRoaming the zone (5–8 at weight 10 while Flying Bull lives; 3–6 at weight 5 after)Shek-supremacist rebels who refused to accept the Stone Golem's rule after King Shager fell; Standard grade armour with a 15% chance of High, far harder work than the Berserkers.
Skin SpiderHostileRoaming the zone (the highest weights here: 30 for small groups, 20 for swarms)The zone's signature threat, in packs of 1–10. They eat downed organic characters, but they are slow and can be kited with polearms or ranged weapons, and crossbow bolts hit them very poorly. Presumably migrants from neighbouring Arach.
BonedogHostileRoaming the zone (lone-wolf singles, weight 10)Stray wild bonedogs, one of the few things here a single character can safely train on.
Wandering AssassinNeutralRoams the zone alone (weight 3)A Shinobi Thieves member, always spawned solo. Once allied with the Shinobi Thieves they will heal you and join in your fights. By day they stop to trade with local shopkeepers, but the player cannot buy from or sell to them.
Shek Weapon ShopMerchantInside Last Stand's second wall (the same block as the Shek armour shop)The zone's only commercial building, with a randomly named owner. The weapon shop is mostly heavy weapons and stocks up to 40 items, the armour shop next door up to 55, both restocking every 24 hours. ⚠️ If you are allied to a hostile faction such as the Holy Nation, the guards attack the moment you step inside these walls — and even set to passive block-only you are still counted as the aggressor and take the bounty. Bring a disguise if you want to shop.
