The Berserker Village is a hostile outpost on the Spider Plains, east of Last Stand. Calling it a village is generous — most of the buildings are ruins and only a few sections of wall are still standing.

The residents are Berserkers: Shek who walked out of the Shek Kingdom to return to a tribal way of life. Their combat levels sit at 40 and above, they wear maroon clothing and armour, and they are hostile to virtually every faction in the game.

The most important of them is their leader, Ghost.

Whose place this used to be

The wiki's reading is that this was originally a Shek Kingdom outpost or minor settlement, later either overrun by spiders or abandoned as the kingdom's population drained away through its many wars.

Either way the result is the same: walls the Shek built, now lived in by Shek the Shek threw out.

Ghost

Ghost's real name is Suchon. He was a warrior of the Shek Kingdom until a lost battle cost him his status and got him expelled in disgrace. He became the Berserkers' leader afterwards, camping in these ruins with his people. His head is worth 10,000 Cats to the Shek Kingdom.

NoteGhost is not necessarily alive. The Berserker Village is attacked by Skin Spiders from time to time, and those attacks sometimes end with Ghost being killed — and eaten. If you come for the bounty and cannot find him, the spiders may have got there first.

The Shek Kingdom's own attitude to all this is telling. When negotiating an alliance with Bayan, the player can offer to deal with the Berserker problem plaguing their lands. Bayan's answer is to let them "do what they will."

What it means for the player

Three practical uses:

  1. A bounty. 10,000 Cats, and Ghost has only a handful of companions rather than an army.
  2. Cheap real estate. That collapsed Old Storm House costs 6,000 Cats, one of very few buildings on the Spider Plains you can buy and rebuild.
  3. Free beds. The camp beds scattered around the village can be used regardless of your relations with the Berserkers. On the Spider Plains, that is worth more than it sounds.
TipThis village is unaffected by any World State — it never gets overridden, never changes hands, never falls to ruins. However you leave it, that is how it stays.
