The Smuggler Barman is the shopkeeper of the Smugglers Bar, an outpost bar belonging to the Grayflayers and located in Shem.

He buys illegal goods

ImportantThis is his single most important function — the Smugglers Bar buys illegal items. On a map where theft and smuggling are among the more reliable early incomes, fixed shops willing to take stolen goods are not common.

Shop parameters: a refresh time of 24 hours and a fill total of 50. Like all bars, it does not close at night.

Why the shop is worth the trip

TipThe upstairs section provides a wide array of free beds, suitable for larger parties. Shem contains no towns, so this bar is effectively the only place to stop in the region.

It is also a gathering point for recruits. Characters who can spawn here include Bard, Recruit Seeking Revenge, Wall Man, Silvershade, Outlaw Medic, Engineer Recruit and Medic Recruit, along with a range of generic recruits. The location is also likely to spawn a Smuggler Caravan or a squad from the Mercenary Guild.

One limitation

NoteAlthough the Smugglers Bar is nowhere near the swamp, its Grayflayer ownership means it is governed by the Swamper Trade Culture, which restricts the range of items available here. Do not come expecting to buy equipment.

The permanent residents are the Smuggler Barman himself and six Grayflayers.
