GutterheadReport

English:Gutterhead · Characters

Leader of the Scavengers, holed up in the Old Control Tower in Venge; killing him wipes the corpse-looting squads off the south-eastern half of the map in one stroke.

Gutterhead is the leader of the Scavengers. The Scavengers are the most common ragtag bandits of the south-eastern half of the map: they attack anyone who passes and then strip everything off whoever falls — corpses included.

The Old Control Tower

He and his 7 followers are holed up in the Old Control Tower in Venge, east of the Ruined Control Tower and the Tower of Abuse. The tower was picked clean long ago and only a few small containers remain, one of which — a locked wooden chest — still generates loot to Ancient Lab specifications. An inheritance taken over by people who pick through rubbish, and there is still something valuable left inside: the contrast was almost certainly deliberate on the designers' part.

He and his followers wear Shoddy quality armour (40% chance of Standard quality), and their weapons come from the "Ancient" and "Unknown" manufacturers. For a faction leader, this outfit is startlingly threadbare.

The bounty

Gutterhead can be handed over to the United Cities for a bounty of 10,000 Cats. His wanted poster names him as the leader of the Scavengers, responsible for numerous assaults and robberies on the roads of Venge, located "south of the desert, beyond the Eye".

NoteWho collects this bounty is actually an accident of the game data: Gutterhead has no "bounty faction" set in the FCS, so the system falls back on assigning him to the United Cities by default.

A contradictory stat sheet

Gutterhead's stat distribution is unusual among Kenshi's bosses, and the variance is wide (±10):

StatValue
Strength0–18
Toughness40–60
Dexterity44–66
Perception25–45
All melee weapons, attack and defence40–60
Athletics48–72

In other words: he is fast, he is accurate, he takes a hit well — and he has almost no strength at all. Low Strength means swinging a heavy weapon would be absurdly slow, and heavy armour is out of the question, which lines up exactly with his look of light rags and a single Mercenary Club. With unlucky rolls the player runs into a freak with 0 Strength and 66 Dexterity: fights like a gust of wind, cannot carry anything.

World states

Once Gutterhead is dead, Scavengers stop spawning in the following areas: Sniper Valley, Stobe's Gamble, Stobe's Garden, The Outlands, The Crags and The Pits.

Surviving patrols shrink accordingly — Scavenger patrols of 3–20 drop to 3–10, and their appearance frequency on the Stormgap Coast and the eastern side of The Pits falls noticeably.

That makes him an exceptionally cost-effective clearing target for the south-eastern half of the map: one ten-thousand-cat bounty in exchange for six regions that never spawn corpse-pickers again. For a player planning to build a base around The Outlands or The Crags, this single stroke cuts the surrounding source of harassment out entirely.
