Dead WorkshopReport

English:Dead Workshop · Locations

A hangar-like ancient workshop in The Pits East, one of the few reliable sources of Engineering Research in the game. Up to ten Skeletons calling themselves Soldierbots may be standing inside — and when they are, the stock is twice as large and restocks fifty times faster.

Old ruins. You gotta look at a map, go way out into the furthest reaches of the ass end of nowhere, the more dangerous the better, and then look around for old ruins and stuff. — Ronin Construction Trader

The Dead Workshop is an ancient location in The Pits East, a large hangar-like structure. It is one of the few reliable places to obtain Engineering Research.

TipDo not confuse it with the Deadland Workshop in the Deadlands — similar names, different places and different contents.

Where it is

The Dead Workshop sits in The Pits East, territory of the Crab Raiders — a band of Scorchlanders who turned crab worship into a religion out in the acid rain, and then actually built a capital, a smithy and a tournament ground. The workshop itself belongs to no living faction.

There is a deep square pool directly in front of the building, big enough to be visible on the map — though usually half-covered by the workshop's own icon.

Guards

The location spawns 0 to 10 units named "Soldierbot".

NoteDespite the name, they are actually Screamer MkI models.

Guard count is randomised, and it directly determines what this workshop produces — see below.

More guards, more goods

This is the rule worth remembering about the Dead Workshop:

StateTotal item countRestock time
Empty workshop152,499 hours
With 0 to 10 Soldierbots3050 hours
ImportantClearing out the guards does not turn this into a money printer — it switches the place off. An empty Dead Workshop holds half the items and its restock time jumps from 50 hours to 2,499, over a hundred in-game days. If you want to farm this location, you have to accept fighting those robots every single time.

Discovered by

Walking near it marks it automatically. Reading the Engineers Map reveals one random workshop; the chance of hitting the Dead Workshop is 17.39% — the other three are the Post-Ancient Workshop (43.48%), the Deadland Workshop (34.78%) and the Workshop Complex (4.35%).

What it means for the player

Engineering Research is the bottleneck item for high-tier tech, and only four workshops in the game produce it reliably. The Dead Workshop is the easternmost of them, and you can fold Crab Town and the Old Empire Supply Outpost into the same trip.

Provided you get through the acid rain of The Pits East first.
