Settled NomadsReport

English:Settled Nomads · Locations

A five-building village in Shem whose only reason to exist is its animal shop — bonedogs, pack bulls, garru and goats, the fullest counter on the continent. It has no walls and no guards, and the thing that spawns hardest in this region is the Beak Thing.

Settled Nomads is a small village in the Shem region, south of Skinner's Roam, controlled by the Nomads faction.

The wiki is unsparing about it — a relatively insignificant and small village. There are exactly five buildings: four residential and one Nomad Animal Shop. None of them can be purchased by the player faction.

The only reason to come

That animal shop is the entire point of the place.

It stocks essentially all domesticated animals:

Most of them are Pup aged. Alongside the livestock it also sells Garru Backpacks and Bull Backpacks.

Everyone else in the village is a generic resident and there are no other stores. In other words, beyond buying livestock there is no reason to stay a minute longer.

Why you should not linger

Shem looks like the most liveable ground on the map — 70% water, maximum fertility, and no government collecting tax. The price is that the thing which spawns hardest here is the Beak Thing.

And Settled Nomads has no walls and no guards.

NotePassing bandits or Beak Things can wipe the village out at any time, taking the animal shop with it. The wiki's advice is direct — finish your business and leave; do not linger in the area.

This is one of the few places in Kenshi that a player can ruin by staying too long. Hanging around keeps hostile squads spawning in the region, and the residents cannot hold them.

Its fate hangs on a man who has nothing to do with it

The village is also tied to a world state:

ImportantIf Tinfist becomes dead or imprisoned while Longen is still alive, Settled Nomads is taken over by the Slave Traders and turns into a trashed ruin with a little loot scattered around it.

The wiki's footnote on this is interesting: Nomads and Nomad Camps still spawn in Shem regardless, so it is unclear whether the slavers actually enslaved the villagers or the villagers simply evacuated. Either way, the animal shop does not open again.

Which means this village's survival hangs on a man who has nothing to do with it at all.
