RiddlyReport
English:Riddly · Characters
A lone adventurer who will walk up and buy you a drink in a United Cities bar. She joins for free, but you have to say the right thing — what she wants is adventure, not a construction project.
"…A new face. Care for a drink?"
Riddly is a unique recruit found across United Cities territory. She turns up in town and village bars and is one of the few characters who will start the conversation herself — a friendly lone adventurer whose opening move is to buy you a drink.
The one fork in her recruitment
Her recruitment flow has exactly one real decision point, and it is easy to fumble:
- Tell her you plan to build a settlement and are looking for help → she declines. She says it plainly herself: she is not the settling-down type.
- Tell her you are heading out to adventure and ask whether she wants to come → she says she has been waiting for you to ask, and joins the squad for free.
In other words, what decides the outcome is not money but how you describe your own goal.
Stats and equipment
Her attributes and skills sit broadly in the 4–12 band — Strength, Toughness, Dexterity, every weapon line, melee attack and defence, turrets, Precision Shooting, Athletics, Swimming and Field Medic all in the same bracket, while Perception, Stealth, Lockpicking and Thievery come in at −3 to 5. The numbers drift randomly by 4 points.
For a free recruit that starting point is slightly better than the average bought-in rookie, and her personality is fixed to "Honorable" — a steady advantage in any playstyle that needs squad behaviour kept under control.
For equipment she always carries a Topper along with a Basic First Aid Kit. Her armour and clothing are rolled at random from a long list: on her head an Armoured Hood, cap, Flared Helmet, wicker hat, square goggles, straw hat, tricorn hat, turban or wool hat; on her body Assassin's Rags, a Heart Protector, a Longcoat, a Mercenary Plate, Ninja Rags, a Sleeveless Longcoat or Trader's Leathers. Quality is Standard grade 95% of the time, with a 5% chance of High Grade.
A character with no story
Riddly's narrative weight is very light. She has a single unique line, and even that line is shared with several other unique recruits who are "senior or elderly" in the setting. She has no backstory, no world states, and nobody anywhere mentions her.
Her role really is that simple: someone sitting in a bar, waiting to be asked "want to come along?"
