Blue sand wastes. Unclaimed. Main settlements: Strange Camp.
Contents
Sky-blue sand, trees that grow iron into their wood, and the densest Beak Thing nesting ground on the continent. No faction keeps a post here — not because nobody wants the land, but because nobody can stay on it.

| No-Face | Hostile boss | Strange Camp — a small island inside the Gut | The only human member of the Gutters. Set foot on the island and he opens up with an Old World crossbow before switching to a longsword up close. An obscure trick: buy him out of the slave markets over and over and your standing with the Gutters turns neutral — which means Beak Things stop attacking you. |
History
- The iron concentration here is high enough that the trees evolved to metabolise it, and you can mine iron straight off them — often taken as circumstantial evidence that the Second Empire poisoned the soil downstream, though the game never says so.
Building a base here
The channel's verdict: Recommended
- Copper Copper is spread across the zone just like iron; the author says you will not have any trouble finding it.[V1 0:02:50]
- Other Aridity 50.[V1 0:01:42]

- Stone Stone is plentiful — there are a good number of green and yellow deposits in the zone, so your building-material needs are covered.[V1 0:03:23]

- Stone Stone is plentiful — there are a good number of green and yellow deposits in the zone, so your building-material needs are covered.[V1 0:03:23]
- Raids The main threat is the Beak Thing: there are nests in the zone, and coming anywhere near it you often run into patrols of two or three — but you will not meet the big packs you get in the Bonefields.[V1 0:04:30]
- Defensible terrain The author suggests building at the zone's edge: the flat ground is a little larger than in the middle or along the coast, and one direction is guaranteed free of Beak Things, which gives your walls and gates a clear order of priority.[V1 0:05:39]
- Defensible terrain The broken terrain can also be turned around and used: the author built an inner keep on the small hill at the centre of his base and mounted harpoon turrets on it, for an enormous height advantage.[V1 0:06:13]
- Raids The main threat is the Beak Thing: there are nests in the zone, and coming anywhere near it you often run into patrols of two or three — but you will not meet the big packs you get in the Bonefields.[V1 0:04:30]
- Raids The author's own base has actually taken an Eyegore raid (the captions render it "iGo" / "Igor") and a Reaver attack, and the high-ground harpoon turrets held both off.[V1 0:06:47]
- Raids A Beak Thing nest can be treated as a defensive asset: just lead the incoming squad into it. That will absorb anything short of the largest incursions, such as the Wrath of God or an Eyegore raid.[V1 0:07:22]
- Distance to supplies Places to sell include Black Scratch to the south, the Waystation in the Grey Desert, and the Deadlands two zones west; several United Cities holdings are only a short trip away.[V1 0:01:09]
- Distance to supplies There is a Slave Farm to the north where crops and bread come at a steep discount — good for an early food shortage, or for restocking while you get a farm going in Gut.[V1 0:03:55]
- Other The base turrets keep pulling in Beak Thing patrols and the bodies pile up at the gate, which amounts to a near-unlimited source of leather and raw meat.[V1 0:07:57]
