Fish IsleReport

English:Fish Isle · Locations

The town on the island at the continent's southern tip. Everything is still where it was left; the people who built it are not. What lives there now travels in packs of twenty to forty, and the loot is unreasonable.

Fishman Island... There's supposed to be a famous sword here... — player characters, including Crumblejon and Doctor Chung

Fish Isle is the major town of Fishman Island. Like the rest of the island, it is inhabited by Fishmen.

What it used to be

Fish Isle is completely in ruins, but before it was overrun it contained several medium sized buildings.

The interesting detail is that part of the town is surrounded by walls, which suggests it began as a smaller outpost that was eventually judged worth investing in. The expansion appears to have been rapid, and then it stopped abruptly.

Nobody stayed behind to explain what happened.

Getting there

Fishman Island lies south of the Bonefields. Despite being an island, you do not need the Swimming stat — there is a bridge to the north, identical to the one connecting Black Desert City with the Scraphouse and the one crossing the Wend north of Blister Hill.

NoteThe zone's weather season is called "mad rain with rare acid" and includes light acid rain. It is not severe, but it belongs in the plan if you intend to stay on the island for a while.

Who is there

The island runs Fishmen Patrols of 20 to 40 Gurglers plus 0 to 3 Alpha Gurglers, as long as the King Gurgler lives. It also supports up to 6 Gurgler Nests, and stray crabs.

An ordinary Gurgler has very low stats (15 strength, 15 combat, 15 martial arts), carries no weapon, and fights with its claws using Martial Arts. Its tactic is headcount.

Alpha Gurglers are a different matter — 40 strength, 35 combat, and double the limb health and blood pool of a normal Gurgler, enough to stand toe to toe with most enemies.

ImportantThe real threat here is twenty to forty of them arriving at once. A single Gurgler loses to any competent character, but Kenshi combat is a surround-and-swarm system, and individual quality does not save a squad with forty enemies around it. Terrain and doorways matter more than gear.

Why the trip is worth it

Fish Isle spawns a lot of random loot. The town was abandoned rather than emptied — the contents are still where they were.

And there is a second objective at the island's south-western tip. The King Gurgler sits in the Island Lab with a Meitou-grade Combat Cleaver. The United Cities wanted poster charges him with the kidnapping and cannibalism of Catun residents and offers 60,000 Cats, head required as proof. Looting his Gurgler Head claims the bounty — note that taking the head from his unconscious body kills him immediately.

TipThat opening line about a famous sword is not a joke. It refers to the King's Meitou cleaver. This island is one of the few places where the rumour, the reward and the danger all line up.
