Exile CampReport

English:Exile Camp · Locations

A handful of tents and campfires in the Stenn Desert, and the only place the Band of Bones controls anywhere in the world. The people here are Shek who had their horns taken and refused to put down the blade — including their leader, Tora the Fearless.

You! You stare at my horns! You have the gall to gawk at a Shek Warrior's horns, you must have the fight to back it up! — Tora the Fearless

The Exile Camp is a small encampment in the Stenn Desert, south-west of Squin and directly south of the Stenn Desert Waystation. What makes it notable: this is the only location the Band of Bones controls anywhere in the world.

Who lives here

The Band of Bones are Shek bandits, and almost all of them are Shek warriors who lost a battle and then refused to give up the sword. Shek warrior law says a defeated fighter lays down the blade; those who do not have their horns removed and are cast out of the kingdom. The people in this camp tend to be hornless and malnourished, sit at combat levels of 20 to 30, and are not well equipped — every member carries an Ancient-grade Combat Cleaver.

Their leader is Tora the Fearless. Disgraced and dehorned, she chose self-exile, preferring to die by the sword as a bandit over surrendering her weapon as the law demanded. On the Shek Kingdom's wanted poster her name has been rewritten as "Tora the Gutless":

Dishonoured shek retainer who has broken warrior law by refusing to give up the blade, instead resorting to lowly crimes of banditry in the Stenn sands.
TipHer story is almost a matched pair with Ghost at the Berserker Village — both exiled Shek leaders. The difference is that Ghost commanded respect before his fall, and Tora probably did not.

Approach and they will chase you off

Walk near the camp and several exiles will run out to drive you away — and they do not discriminate, any faction's party gets the same treatment. Speak to anyone in the camp and every member who can see you attacks.

The Band of Bones is hostile to all three major powers: the Shek Kingdom, the Holy Nation and the United Cities. Their patrols spawn in the Bonefields, High Bonefields, Shem, Shun, Spider Plains, The Hook and The Swamp — a far wider range than this one camp.

What is in the camp

No shops, no noble house, no loot chests. The camp contains exactly three things:

That last one is the interesting part. Training dummies are melee-training equipment, and MkIII is the high tier — a bandit camp in the middle of a desert, with a full set of advanced training gear standing in it. That detail says everything about who the Band of Bones are: they have nothing left, and they are still practising.

What it means for the player

The Exile Camp is one of the few targets in the Stenn Desert pitched at exactly the right difficulty:

NoteTora is not always here. If Big Gray and Big Grim are killed or imprisoned while Tora is alive and free, Grayflayer Village falls under Band of Bones control and she relocates there. If you go looking for her and find an empty camp, check what has been happening in The Swamp.
