Adventurer Ranger ShopReport

English:Adventurer Ranger Shop · Characters

The Tech Hunter crossbow shop, and there are only five of them on the continent. It is the better of the two Ranger Shop variants, and neither variant exists anywhere in the Shek Kingdom or the Holy Nation.

The Adventurer Ranger Shop sells crossbows and bolts, and belongs to the Tech Hunters.

The Ranger Shop comes in two variants, the Adventurer one and the Empire one, and the wiki files both under the Tech Hunters. This article covers the one with the better stock.

NoteThere is no Ranger Shop of either kind anywhere in the Shek Kingdom or the Holy Nation. If you are playing in either place and want a crossbow, you carry it in or you build it yourself.

Where they are

Five fixed locations: Black Scratch, Flats Lagoon, Mongrel, Spring and World's End.

TipThe wiki's own pages do not agree here. The "Ranger Shop" overview lists Clownsteady under the Adventurer variant, the Adventurer Ranger Shop page itself lists only the five, and the Empire Ranger Shop page also claims Clownsteady. Going by each shop's own page, it is five.

What it stocks

All four bolt types are Common, and so are all six crossbows.

BoltsAverage price
Bolts LongsCats 389 Cats
Bolts HeaviesCats 272 Cats
Bolts RegularsCats 243 Cats
Bolts ToothpicksCats 243 Cats

The crossbows are the Tooth Pick, Spring Bat, Ranger, Eagle's Cross, Oldworld Bow MkI and Oldworld Bow MkII. The wiki's grade columns are ticked for Standard, High and Specialist, meaning all three can turn up on the rack.

The blueprint list is longer than the stock list:

Maximum stock is 80 items on a 24-hour restock. Open by day, closed at night.

How it differs from the Empire version

The wiki says the Adventurer variant stocks better than the Empire one. Here is where the difference actually sits.

Adventurer Ranger ShopEmpire Ranger Shop
Maximum stock80 items60 items
Eagle's CrossCommonRare
Oldworld Bow MkIICommonUncommon
Bolts HeaviesCommonUncommon
Bolts LongsCommonRare
Eagle's Cross blueprintYes (rare)No
Oldworld Bow blueprintsMkI uncommon, MkII rareNo

Both will sell you the basics. The high-end crossbows and their blueprints only come out of the Adventurer version, so an Eagle's Cross or Oldworld Bow MkII plan means a trip to one of those five towns.

Who is inside

One Tech Hunter Shopkeeper, plus two to four Shinobi Guards.

The Empire version is staffed more heavily: shopkeeper and Shinobi Guards as well, plus a Ronin Crossbow Trader and two Shop Guards.

One thing that does not add up

Both wiki pages state that Ranger Shops are controlled by the Tech Hunters, including the Empire variant standing in United Cities towns. That would mean the crossbow shop inside an Imperial city trades under somebody else's name.

The game says nothing about this, and it may simply be that both vendor definitions in the FCS reuse the same faction field. Recorded as found, with no extrapolation.
