Thieves GuildReport

English:Thieves Guild · Locations

The watchtower the Shinobi Thieves run openly in eight towns. Join and the beds and training gear inside open up; the trader in there buys and sells at half price and never asks where anything came from, and the tower teaches eight blackened-armour blueprints.

A Thieves Guild is a watchtower of the Shinobi Thieves. It is not a town and not a compound — it is one building type, dropped once into each of eight towns. Some articles on this site call it the Thieves Tower; same thing.

Worth stating up front is where these towers stand: inside the walls of the United Cities, the Holy Nation and the Shek Kingdom, open for business day and night. A criminal organisation trading openly in someone else's city, with the guards unable to do anything about it, is a fairly direct comment on how far the three great powers' law actually reaches.

Where they are

Eight of them: The Hub, Heft, Heng, Sho-Battai, Catun, Admag, Clownsteady, and Mongrel in the Fog Islands.

FCS data indicates every United Cities town is meant to have one. Eight is what actually spawns.

The price of the door

The Thief Boss stands outside. Talk to him and pay 10,000 Cats and you are a member.

Before that the building does nothing for you. After it, the beds, the assassination dummy and the lockpicking training box inside become usable. Shinobi Thieves records a related bug worth knowing: raise your relations to allied before joining and you can never join afterwards — the dialogue runs to the end but the money is never taken.

Who is inside

Ninja Guard (2–3)Tower security; they will pile in if you are attacked

The half-price rule deserves stating plainly: regardless of what the item is and regardless of how you got hold of it, the fence in the tower pays and charges half, and friendliness does not move the number. This is where the Shinobi half-price economy starts, and it is the first stop for laundering stolen goods.

Stock

Maximum stock is 15 items, restocking every 12 hours.

Armour is almost uniformly black: Blackened Chain Shirt, Blackened Chainmail, Armoured Hood, Armoured Rags (black), Black Cloth Shirt, Black Rag Shirt, Fog Mask, Ninja Mask, Swamp Ninja Mask, Mercenary Leather Armour, Drifter's Boots and Drifters Leather Pants are common; Dark Leather Shirt, Black Plate Jacket, Ninja Rags, Rusty Chain Shirt and Rusty Chainmail are uncommon; the Blackened Chain Hive Shirt is the one rare line.

Weapons are short blades only: Guardless Katana, Ninja Blade and Wakizashi are common, Katana uncommon, Nodachi rare.

Backpacks, two of them: the Small Thieves Backpack (3,000 Cats) and the Thieves Backpack (5,000 Cats). Both cut encumbrance without touching stealth at all, and both are sold elsewhere too. The difference here is the half price: the Thieves Backpack costs 5,000 Cats from the Tech Hunter shop in Black Scratch and 2,500 here; the Small Thieves Backpack is 3,000 outside and 1,500 here.

Blueprints

The tower sells eight, all blackened or ninja armour:

Blackened Chain Shirt, Blackened Chainmail, Dark Leather Shirt, Assassin's Rags, Black Plate Jacket, Ninja Rags, Ninja Mask, Blackened Chain Hive Shirt.

That set is the Shinobi look, top to bottom: black cloth, masks, light armour. If you want to manufacture your own stealth kit, these eight are the starting point.
