Swamp RaptorReport

English:Swamp Raptor · Creatures

Docile bipedal reptiles that waddle through the swamplands in large squads. Gentle by temperament and enormous of appetite, they are the scourge of Swamper hemp farms — and they will quietly clean the fresh corpses off a battlefield.

Swamp Raptors are docile reptilian creatures that waddle the land in large squads, primarily in and around The Swamp.

They are stronger than their cousins the River Raptors, as well as somewhat pointier. But the two share one instinct: an endless appetite for crops.

Where they appear

Swamp Raptors are found in: Burning Forest, Leviathan Coast, Raptor Island, South Wetlands, The Crater, The Swamp and The Unwanted Zone.

Their core habitat is The Swamp. They nest, and a single nest produces 3–12 individuals at a time.

NoteSwamp Raptors belong to the Swamp Creatures faction, not the Raptors faction. Within the whole family, only the River Raptor belongs to the Raptors.

The scourge of the hemp fields

This is the Swamp Raptor's actual role in the game: the number one pest of Swamper hemp farms.

The entire economy of The Swamp rests on hemp — the Hounds grow it, turn it into hashish and export it as the most profitable contraband on the continent. Swamp Raptors eat whole fields of it.

Their hunger rate is 2 (River Raptors and goats both sit at 1), meaning they eat more and more often than their relatives.

The practical implication is direct: if you intend to farm in the Swamp or South Wetlands, walls and gates are not optional. Without them, harvests will be zeroed out periodically by a group of three to twelve raptors — and there is no way to make them stop other than killing them. You cannot drive them off, and you cannot scare them away.

They also eat corpses

The other half of their behaviour works in the player's favour: Swamp Raptors can be found contentedly munching on fresh corpses.

The Swamp is one of the most gang-warred regions in the game, and fights leave bodies everywhere. Swamp Raptors dispose of them — as Fandom puts it, this puts their ravenous hunger to a more beneficial use.

Combat threat

ItemValue
Combat stats30 (randomise 2, Martial Arts 3)

Limb health50 – 160 (legs 50 hit chance, everything else 100)
Movement speed5 – 11 mph
Combat move speed multiplier0.6
Extra attack slots1
Bleed rate1
Heal rate1
Lifespan8

Damage formula: Cut = 18 + roughly 0.78 – 0.90 × (Martial Arts + Dexterity). The 18 is 13 minimum cut damage plus 5 piercing damage.

Two things set their real threat level:

One: they slow down in combat. Their combat move speed multiplier is only 0.6 — they get slower once a fight starts, which means any character can disengage easily. Compared with a Blood Spider doubling its speed in combat, a Swamp Raptor barely holds on to anyone.

Two: they are docile. Swamp Raptors do not hunt; they only fight back when attacked.

So their threat comes purely from numbers: individuals at combat stat 30, arriving a dozen at a time, are still a wipe for a starting party. But as long as you can still run, you can leave.

TipSwamp Raptors make excellent training targets around The Swamp: moderate stats, groups big enough to matter, easy to escape, and they will not eat downed squadmates. What you should actually worry about in that same swamp is the Blood Spider.

Drops

Per kill: Animal Skin ×1, Foul Raw Meat ×6.

Note that it is Foul Raw Meat, not Raw Meat. Foul raw meat is low-value and comes with penalties if fed to people; it is mainly for feeding animals or as a cheap ration source. As game, Swamp Raptors are worse value than goats.

The bigger cousin

The Megaraptor is a rare species noticeably larger and much stronger, of which there is exactly one in the game, living in the half-sunken ancient fortress at the centre of Raptor Island. See River Raptor.
