Police Barracks (Cheaters Run)Report
English:Police Barracks · Locations
An Old Empire police barracks on the coast of Cheaters Run. There is almost nothing to loot, but there is a crew of defective Skeletons still on duty — they shout "POLICE!" the moment they see you and then chase until one side is dead.
Police Barracks are police buildings left behind by the Second Empire. There are three on the continent — in Cheaters Run, Sniper Valley and The Pits. This site covers the latter two separately under Police Barracks (Sniper Valley and The Pits).
They are inhabited by Old Empire Police Robots, or by ErrorCode 0x000000.
There is almost nothing here
Start with the conclusion: these locations contain little loot. The Sniper Valley one is empty outright.
Nobody comes here to collect things; people come here because they are passing through. Cheaters Run is the acid-rain coastline used by anyone who wants to reach the Ashlands without crossing Royal Valley — no water, no soil, no stone, only Old Empire police still on duty and Gurglers crawling out of the sea.
"POLICE!"
ErrorCode 0x000000 are defective Skeletons of the Soldierbot subrace, members of the Old Machines faction. Besides the Police Barracks, they also appear at the Dead Fishing Village.
They have exactly one behaviour:
POLICE!
They carry Short-Cleavers and wear Shoddy armour (5% chance of Standard); their weapons are listed as made by Unknown and Ancient.
What this place was
The Second Empire once had a police apparatus. Ashland Dome IV, out in the Ashlands, still holds General Hat-12, the Empire's chief of police — the officer who was ordered to suppress the cult that later became The Holy Nation.
The Police Barracks were that apparatus at street level. The Empire is gone, the order was never rescinded, and so a handful of broken Skeletons still hold the building and still shout the word at everyone who walks past.
What it means for the player
The three barracks are mainly a landmark and a nuisance:
- Squads taking the Cheaters Run coast towards the Ashlands pass right by them.
- The pursuit never ends on its own, so distance will not solve it.
- The contents do not justify a detour.
