The Dead Fishing Village is an abandoned settlement in Cheaters Run. The "dead" is not decoration — the original inhabitants are long gone, and what lives here now is more than thirty malfunctioning Skeletons.

They belong to the Old Machines faction, and they will attempt to "arrest" anyone who enters, charging in while shouting:

POLICE!

One house means all of them

The village consists of two Watchtowers and four Old Storm Houses, every one of them packed with robots.

The rule to remember here is this: attack any one of them and every other building sends reinforcements. There is no clearing this place a house at a time — the moment you swing, it is thirty against you.

NoteOnce the reinforcements are called, a mass of red dots appears on the map, labelled "Police". By the time you see that mass, the decision of whether to fight has usually already been made for you.

What the guards are

ErrorCode 0x000000 are defective Skeletons of the Soldierbot subrace. Their stats sit around 27 to 43, they wear Shoddy armour (5% chance of Standard) and carry Short-Cleavers manufactured by "Unknown" and "Ancient".

They have two properties that make them a nuisance:

NoteIron Spiders from the same Old Machines faction also roam this area in large groups. Enemies arrive here in waves, and an unprepared squad gets buried under the second and third one.

Weather

Cheaters Run gets acid rain. Before going in, either bring acid protection or bring enough materials to throw up a tent and wait a shower out.

Loot

Mostly basic materials:

Common — Iron Plates, Electrical Components, Steel Bars, Copper, Fuel, Books, Building Materials, Fabrics

Less likely — Skeleton Repair Kits, Robotics Components, CPU Units, Power Cores, Generator Cores, Motors, Copper Alloy Plates, Gears, Hinges, Hacksaws, Tools, Spring Steel, Crossbow Parts, plus household clutter — Water Jugs, Cups, Wooden Bowls, Basic First Aid Kits, Damaged Books, Grog, Small Emperor Statues, The Holy Flame, Dried Meat, Greenfruit, Leather, Cactus Rum, Bread, Rice Bowls, Chewsticks, Cooked Vegetables and Hashish

A faction with no members

In the game data, this village is owned by a faction called "Fisher". The interesting part: no character in the game belongs to it.

An empty village registered to a faction nobody is in, garrisoned by police robots still executing a thousand-year-old order. The whole story of this place is written in that configuration, without a single line of dialogue.

What it means for the player

The Dead Fishing Village is not a beginner's stop, but it is one of the few targets on Cheaters Run with a clear payoff: the parts on thirty-odd robots plus everything in the houses adds up to a serious materials haul.

There is only one way to do it — be ready to finish it in one go. Filtering in slowly, or clearing one building and pulling back, does not work here.
