Deadland WorkshopReport

English:Deadland Workshop · Locations

Three vast hangars out in the Deadlands, overlooked by spotlit crossbows and harpoon turrets. One of the few steady sources of Engineering Research — under permanent acid rain, with Broken Model 30s behind the guns.

Old ruins. You gotta look at a map, go way out into the furthest reaches of the ass end of nowhere, the more dangerous the better, and then look around for old ruins and stuff. — Ronin Construction Trader

Deadland Workshops are large, hangar-like structures in the Deadlands. There are three of them in the region.

What the building looks like

The layout is distinctive: a walkway runs along either edge, joined by one or two switchback ramps, and the walkways carry machines, tool stations and containers ranging from basic crates through to high-level locked chests.

Overlooking all of it are Mounted Crossbows fitted with spotlights.

Dangers

ImportantThree hazards stack in the same place. 1. A Broken Skeleton may guard the centre of the site. 2. 1 to 10 Broken Model 30s man two Double Barrel Harpoon Turrets. 3. The area sits under near-constant acid rain.

The third is the real killer. The Deadlands are where the Skeletons drew a border along the line past which the acid rain never stops — an unprotected squad loses its fighting strength before it even reaches the workshop door. The turrets simply finish what the weather started.

Output

This location carries a gear artifacts value of 25,000 Cats and an item artifacts value of 10,000 Cats, which means it spawns extra items through the artifacts system on top of the fixed list.

Empty versus guarded

The same building comes in two states, and the numbers differ sharply:

StateTotal itemsRefresh time
With 1–10 Broken Model 30s (and maybe a Broken Skeleton)3050 hours
Empty Workshop152,499 hours
TipThat table is a strategy in itself: the more guards a workshop has, the more it holds and the faster it restocks. Clear a guarded one and you can come back in a bit over two days. Clear an empty one and it is effectively dead for the next hundred-odd days.

Finding one

An Engineers Map points at a Deadland Workshop 34.78% of the time — second only to the Post-Ancient Workshop at 43.48%. Between them, these two are the backbone of any steady Engineering Research supply.

NoteIf your squad has no acid protection yet, run the Post-Ancient Workshop first. Same research item, and the Purple Sands do not dissolve people.
