Amateur RecruitReport

English:Amateur Recruit · Characters

A randomly named unique recruit who stammers threats at you for looking at him — and who genuinely cannot do anything. One katana, one pair of ragged shorts, and a completely blank stat sheet.

I'll…I'll take your toes. Off, yeah, clean off. Then. Uh, then I'll- I'll eat your heart! Liver too. Finally I'll puke it all out into your chest! Haha, yeah and use your toes to sew it back up! Yeah, what are you gunna do 'bout that!? — Amateur Recruit

The Amateur Recruit is a randomly named unique recruit. Fandom's definition of him runs to one sentence: an inexperienced person who anxiously threatens the player for looking at them.

The speech above is the entirety of his strategy.

He really cannot do anything

The Amateur Recruit's stat block in the game data is empty — no skill values are set at all, and everything stays at the Greenlander baseline.

The equipment list is equally honest:

His personality is Fearful. He asks 3,000 Cats.

NoteAt 3,000 Cats this is one of the worst-value recruits in the game — the same money buys unique characters with actual numbers on them in any bar. The Amateur Recruit's value is not combat but the fact that he is a clean slate: no lopsided specialisation, so he becomes whatever you train.

Where to find him

Guaranteed spawns: Crab Town, Mourn and The Hub.

He also appears in Shark, and does so regardless of which faction currently controls the Swamps — unusual stability in a region where world states change hands constantly.

Depending on world states he may also turn up in Blister Hill, Heft, Heng or Stoat; and less reliably in Black Scratch, Flats Lagoon, the Smugglers Bar, Waystation and Waystation Four, and World's End.

Once recruited he switches to the "Player TOUGH Merc" dialogue package. Which is to say — the moment he joins, the stammering man disappears and he starts talking like every other hired sword.
