Abandoned TownReport

English:Abandoned Town · Locations

Two ancient ruins of the same name, one at the southern tip of Shun and one in The Hook, nominally United Cities property. No inhabitants, no loot, nothing you can even open — one of the few purely decorative locations in the game.

Abandoned Towns are two ancient ruins sharing a name, in the southmost parts of Shun and The Hook. Officially they belong to the United Cities, which in practice means a field in a map file.

There is nothing here

Plainly stated — these locations have no inhabitants and spawn no loot.

In Kenshi's location taxonomy they are Aesthetic Ruins, meaning they appear on the map but the player cannot interact with anything on site. No containers to open, no doors to force, no buildings for sale, no guards. You walk in and you walk out.

NoteDo not make a special trip. Abandoned Towns look like the same class of thing as Lost Libraries and Lost Armouries, and the map icons are similar, but those have stock and Security Spiders in them and this one has neither. Confusing the two categories costs you half a day of walking.

Why it is still on the map

Aesthetic ruins in Kenshi exist to tell you something, not to pay you. Shun as a whole — extremely fertile, essentially unpopulated — is scattered with six Lost Libraries, a few armouries, and this one town that did not even keep its name. The buildings say there were people here. There are not any now.

As for why it is filed under the United Cities — the Empire's claimed borders have always run well past the land it can actually police. The same is true of real ruins like Bast and Endin, except those at least retain a few refugees. This one does not even have those.

What is actually dangerous around here

The Abandoned Town is harmless. The walk to it is not. Shun spawns packs of Skin Spiders in the open — squads of one to ten, plus smaller groups of three. They fight with high cutting damage from their legs, which is lethal to an early squad with no leg armour.

The same area also produces Gorillos, wild goats, garru herds, and Band of Bones patrols.
