English:Quin · Characters
The skeleton shopkeeper of the Scraphouse. The three AI Cores on his shelf never restock — sell them and they are gone — which is why players cross the acid rain of the Deadlands specifically to reach him.
Welcome, dear human, and please excuse the mess. Anything shiny, Dack hoards. A simpleton really. I'm sure his mind was fried when he got hit on the head back in the cha- uh… back some time ago… — Quin, to a human customer
Quin is a member of the Skeletons faction and the shopkeeper of the Scraphouse — the still-trading ancient factory east of the Black Desert City, out in the Deadlands, with acid rain falling around it.
He is not the sort of merchant who waits in a city for customers. To trade with him you have to walk out there.

What he sells
Quin's shelves are the single most valuable wall in the game. These items are guaranteed to spawn once:
| Item | Qty | Price each |
|---|---|---|
| AI Core | 3 | 25,000 Cats |
| Engineering Research | 3 | 8,000 Cats |
| Ancient Science Book | 13 | 5,000 Cats |
| Map of the Ashlands | 1 | 10,000 Cats |
| Ashlander Stormgoggles | 1 | 120 Cats |
On top of that there are several model-stamped weapons, a Specialist Armoured Rag Skirt and a Specialist Stealth Leg (right).
If you would rather not pay, you can in theory steal. In practice it is hard: Dack and a full guard detail patrol between the crates — eight Soldierbot Guards and five Security Spider IIs — and security spiders spot a sneaking character very quickly. The player consensus is that you either need very high Thievery and Lockpicking, or you restrict yourself to the containers reachable from outside the walls and the dark corners where guard sightlines are blocked. The barrels, at least, are never locked.
He says different things to different races
What players remember about Quin is not his stock but the fact that his greeting rewrites itself depending on your character's race:
- To a human: "Welcome, dear human…"
- To a Hiver: he starts the same line, notices halfway that he is not talking to a human, and swerves — "Welcome, dear huma-uh… welcome dear."
- To a skeleton: the word he keeps swallowing finally comes out. He says Dack took the blow to the head during the Chaos Age, and adds: "Trying times I'm sure you remember…"
That third version is the point. Speaking to his own kind, Quin has no need to dodge the Chaos Age — because the listener lived through it too. The evasion in the first two versions is a habit skeletons keep around the living.
Combat
Quin is not a soft target. P4 Unit spec: Strength, Toughness, Dexterity and nearly every combat skill sit at 60, Field Medic at 72, Assassination at 30. His weak points are Crossbows (1), Dodge (4.8), Martial Arts (6) and every crafting skill.
For gear he carries a Skeleton Smiths Moon Cleaver and wears a Dustcoat, Standard grade with a 5% chance of High.
In other words: the last obstacle to robbing the Scraphouse is not the guards. It is the shopkeeper.
