A ruin near the Spider Plains and Arach border, a full ring of Wall IV around a heap of broken buildings. The Shek Kingdom garrisoned this place, then ran out of people and left it where it stood.
Old Frontlines is a ruin located near the border of the Spider Plains and Arach. It is easy to recognise: a complete ring of Wall IV around a cluster of damaged buildings.
What it used to be
It was most likely a forward military outpost of the Shek Kingdom.
Two readings exist.
One — a garrison and assault point against the southern United Cities. Shek groups demonstrably do travel deep into southern UC regions; the Band of Bones spawn homeless squads in The Hook, the Bonefields and Shun. But the kingdom's wars hollowed it out: "Under his rule, the Shek Kingdom was crumbling under the loss of life sustained in their wars with the Holy Nation and the United Cities."
Two — an old outpost from the conflict with the Bugmaster. It sits right on the Arach border and the name fits. This reading is comparatively weak, because Last Stand already fills that role.
Either way the ending is the same: the Shek Kingdom fought too many wars, no longer had the manpower to maintain the area, and abandoned it.

There are no guards here and no high-tech output. What you can pick up:

Why the player cares
Practically almost nothing — but it is one of the very few walled structures anywhere on the Spider Plains.
What actually rules the Spider Plains are Skin Spiders. They are slower than you are, but once you go down they have plenty of time. A ring of Wall IV still standing is worth something in country like that.
As for what it says: the Shek are known for never retreating, and Old Frontlines is a place they retreated from. The wall is still there, the people are not. It was not stormed — it was worn out.
