A Mercenary Guild camp that spawns at random in the wilderness. Talk to the captain and the whole squad is yours to hire, and the camp beds on the ground are free.
A Mercenary Camp is a field position of the Mercenary Guild. It is not a fixed settlement — it spawns at random, and it can appear in two regions: The Hook and Watcher's Rim.
Its role on the map is simple: this is one of the very few places where money converts directly into fighting strength.
Who is in the camp
Every camp holds one standard squad:
| Member | Count |
|---|---|
| Mercenary Captain | 1 (leader) |
| Mercenary | 2–4 |
| Mercenary Heavy | 2–4 |
Talk to the captain and you hire the whole squad in one transaction. Rates are 2,000 Cats per day for a bodyguard and 1,000 Cats per day for an outpost protector; renewing takes no special procedure, just another conversation with the same captain.
The free beds
The camp spawns Camp Beds, and the player may use them for free.
That matters more than the mercenaries do. Watcher's Rim is the ring of dead mountains around the Arach crater — nothing grows, nothing can be hunted, and the zone does not even generate weather. The Hook is the dry coastal strip the United Cities pushes south, where the people who stop you on the road are mostly checking whether you have an owner. Neither region offers a stopover. A bed that costs nothing and comes with no guard asking questions is worth far more than it looks.
Is hiring worth it
The verdict on the Guild is always the same — they can fight, but their gear is terrible. The captain's own stats and weapon skills sit in the 35–55 range, which is respectable, yet the Samurai Armour he wears is only Shoddy grade.
In practice mercenaries will hold the first wave, but not much longer than that. For a low-skill squad that simply needs bodies in front of it, the deal is still good. For an established squad, the same money buys better equipment.
