Old Empire quartermaster paperwork. Using it marks a Lost Armoury on your world map — the only map in the game that hits every time, because its candidate table has exactly one entry.
This looks like it could be a valuable find, it details the location of an Old Empire military cache. It might have some valuable equipment.
Ancient Military Documents are one of the map items. You find them in chests at ancient locations; they are not sold anywhere. Using one consumes it and adds a location to your world map.

One entry, and that is what sets it apart from every other map. The Old Treasure Map has sixteen candidates and its best target only comes up 15% of the time, so you have to keep using them to land on the one you wanted. Ancient Military Documents give you exactly what it says on the tin — you just do not know which corner of the map it will be in.
The price of that certainty is that it opens nothing else. If you already know where every Lost Armoury is, the item cannot be used and is not consumed.
Is what it opens worth the walk
A Lost Armoury is a Second Empire weapons store built out of the Outpost s-IV shell, scattered across the Deadlands, the Iron Valleys, Leviathan Coast, Shun and The Pits. Three things are worth knowing about it:
- The contents are well-preserved ancient weapons and armour, with manufacturers such as Skeleton Smiths, Edgewalkers or the Catun Scrapmaster — all high-grade marks.
- The locks are among the hardest in the game. Without the Lockpicking skill you do not get in, and no amount of combat strength changes that.
- Security Spiders sometimes live there. Fighting them head-on is a bad trade; stealth past them is the practical route.
So the document itself sells for 500 Cats, but what it points at is worth far more than that — provided your lockpick skill can keep up.
Where to find one
- Lost Library: guaranteed, one per library, spawning alongside the Old Treasure Map and the Engineers Map.
- Tower of Abuse: random loot, sharing the lowest-probability slot of the table with the other two maps.
