BoReport

English:Bo · Characters

A senior member of the Anti-Slavers, known to everyone as "Big Bo". Elite in Stealth, Athletics and Assassination, yet close to a civilian in a straight fight — and the conditions for recruiting her are among the harshest in the game.

"So you're the new girl around here, are you… How about the two of us go find some fun?" — Bo

Bo is one of the few members of the Anti-Slavers with her own dialogue and her own wanted poster. She is always sitting in the Tech Hunter bar or the waystation in Black Scratch, with an Anti-Slaver Jonin at her side as a bodyguard.

Small as she is, her colleagues call her "Big Bo" to a man.

The wanted poster

Both the United Cities and the Holy Nation have a price on her head:

WANTED: "Big Bo" Race: Scorchlander / Sex: Female / Age: estimated forty Crimes: terrorism, spreading anti-labour propaganda. Target is hostile and extremely dangerous. Bounty: 30,000 Cats

The wording of the charge is worth pausing on: "anti-labour propaganda". The empire does not recognise slavery as a crime — only the obstruction of production.

She cannot actually fight

Open her stat sheet and a contradiction appears: this "extremely dangerous" terrorist fights about as well as a civilian.

Her role is not muscle but infiltration and rescue: get into a slave camp, pick the locks, let people out, run. What you recruit is a finished assassin and lockpick, not a front line.

TipBo is one of only two NPCs in the game whose Robotics skill is explicitly defined; the other is Tinfist. In other words, she can repair skeletons from the moment she joins.

The table above is taken from the raw FCS values; racial modifiers still apply on top of them.

Recruitment conditions

To take her in, the state of the world has to be on your side first. Any one of the following three paths is enough:

Seen from the other side, she is also thirty thousand cats sitting there ready to be collected. The person or the money: the player picks.

Calling in a bodyguard squad

Once she has joined, Bo can occasionally hail an Anti-Slaver patrol on the road and ask them to escort the player's squad for three days. The feature has a famous side effect: it works on Tinfist's own squad as well, which in theory lets Tinfist and Grey trail along behind you.

NoteLetting Tinfist tag along carries a risk. If he is knocked out or gets stuck, the world state may rule that he is "not well", which is handled exactly as if he had died, and a whole chain of later story beats will be thrown off.

World states

If the player kills or imprisons Bo, Grey and Jaegar all three while Tinfist is still alive, the Anti-Slavers will send troops to raid the player's base outright.

Gear and cautions

She permanently wears a Karuta Zukin, Assassin's Rags, a dark leather shirt, ninja pants and Drifter's Boots, with a Ninja Blade hanging from her belt. At the default squad size multiplier (1.0) she appears to always spawn carrying a Masterwork dark leather shirt.

NoteIf you are training Defence or Dodge in Black Scratch, stay away from Bo's Jonin escort. That squad's AI will pick a downed player up and then never put them down again; on a solo start this amounts to a hard lock — they only walk back and forth between the town's two bars, and you cannot get yourself out of it.
