Screamer UnitReport

English:Screamer Unit · Characters

Skeleton guards left behind by the dead Second Empire. They hold Ashland Dome II and its Rhinobot, and also spawn as Skeleton Legion patrols across the Ashlands — a unit still standing watch over a country that no longer exists.

Screamer Units are members of the Second Empire — the empire that is already dead. The game data states it flatly, and that flat statement is the whole point of the unit: the state is gone and they are still at their posts.

Their race entry reads Skeleton MKII Screamer, a subrace nobody else uses.

What they guard

Ashland Dome II is the second of the four domes in the Ashlands, and it houses the Rhinobot. The Screamer Units are that machine's escort.

Dome II is also one of the richest artifact sites in the game — a gear artifact value of around 900,000 Cats — with guaranteed drops including a Masterwork Eagle's Cross, a Masterwork Samurai Helmet, Specialist Chainmail and several model-stamped weapons. To take any of it, you go through the Screamer Units first.

They also walk the open ground

The other way Screamer Units spawn is folded into the Skeleton Legion, patrolling the whole of the Ashlands.

SquadCompositionSpawn weight
Screamer Unit6–15 Screamer Units1

Weight 1 means this is not the squad you meet most often — the Ashlands roads are dominated by Iron Spider swarms and big Legion Thrall columns. But Screamer Units arrive six to fifteen at a time, and every one of them is better equipped than what else is out there.

ImportantThey wear High grade armour with a 15% chance of jumping to Specialist, and carry Ancient- or Skeleton Smiths-made Horse Choppers. Among Ashlands patrols of this tier, the Screamer Units are the best-kitted group on the field.

Statistics

StatValue

Combat stats60
Unarmed10

One detail buried in the data: the Screamer Unit's Unarmed value is hard-set to 10, and that setting overrides the Dexterity they would otherwise have. Without the override their Dexterity would be 60, Unarmed 6 and Dodge 4.8.

In other words, the game traded away their agility for a little unarmed capability — producing a unit that swings a weapon steadily but moves more slowly.

They also carry a colour scheme, so their armour and clothing take on faction colours.
