Pia is a unique recruit found in Flotsam Village, hired for 3,000 Cats.
The fastest paid recruit in the game
Her selling point is one word: speed. Athletics 47–53, with Strength and Dexterity at 17–23 and Perception at 7–13.
Measured against the whole recruit roster, only Bo is faster — and while Bo is free, getting him requires far more (you must join the Anti-Slavers first). Among recruits you can simply pay for, Pia is the fastest.
In Kenshi, movement speed is not a luxury stat. It decides whether you can walk away from something you cannot beat, and how long a trade run takes.
Her sister's death
Pia's sister Naevia was also a member of the Flotsam Ninjas. The wiki quotes it as her having "died doing what she loved doing, fighting the Paladins".
That fact is written directly into Pia's mechanics.
Paladin radar
Just as Miu calls out nearby spiders, Pia is always on alert for Holy Paladins. When one is in the area she delivers a unique line, which amounts to real-time detection for the whole squad.
