I've travelled enough since leaving Stack to know that no man or woman is trustworthy. But I'm looking to travel again. I guess you always appreciate that which gets taken away from you and, for me, that was my freedom.
Knife is a Unique Recruit — a Greenlander woman of the Flotsam Ninjas who is looking to travel again. She joins the player for 6,000 Cats, money she intends to send home to her mother in Stack.
Where to find her
She appears in Flotsam Village in the Hidden Forest — the Flotsam Ninjas' home base. The same village can also yield Digna, Pia and Reva.
Is she worth the money
Knife has the best starting numbers of the Flotsam recruits:

In short she is purely a fighter: every weapon skill at 10 and Athletics at 15, but Engineer, Science and Labouring all at zero. If you want her building and mining, you are starting from nothing.
Her personality is Honorable, which makes her one of the easier characters to keep in a squad.
What one line of dialogue carries
Most of Knife's presence in the game comes from her recruitment line. She says outright what the 6,000 Cats is for — it goes home to her mother in Stack. Stack is one of the Holy Nation's three major cities, and she is currently living in a Flotsam Ninja village: a woman who left the Holy Nation without cutting the tie behind her.
