DignaReport

English:Digna · Characters

A Greenlander woman who killed her father, fled Stack and threw in with the Flotsam Ninjas — a blank slate with nothing but zeroes on her sheet, and a monologue about nightmares.

Digna is a recruitable unique character, a Greenlander woman who can be found at Flotsam Village, the stronghold of the Flotsam Ninjas, for a recruitment cost of 3,000 Cats.

The woman who got out of Stack

She originally lived in Stack, inside Holy Nation territory. She tried to run, her father caught her in the act — and then she killed him and fled north to the Flotsam Ninjas. The game's account of this is extremely brief, offering no background and making no excuses for her. That blank space fits the overall register of women's circumstances in the Holy Nation precisely: the details do not need to be spelled out for a reader to fill them in.

Her personality is set to Brave.

Nightmares

Digna shares the "Player FLOTSAM" dialogue package with every recruit who comes out of the Flotsam Ninjas, but she additionally owns a line that fires only once, on the subject of nightmares. It triggers when the squad enters certain biomes "far from civilisation", such as the Arm of Okran near Flotsam Village.

There is a branch in this conversation as well: if Griffin is in the squad, Digna (or Reva) will use the opportunity to take him to task instead, rather than talking about her own nightmares. She shares a good number of lines attacking Griffin's past with Reva, and which of the two speaks is random — meaning that bringing both of them along at once does not let the player hear any more content.

TipTo hear the nightmare monologue in full, do not put Griffin in the same squad the first time you take her out of the civilised zones.

Stats: a thorough blank slate

Digna is one of the cleanest unique recruits in the game where numbers are concerned — every one of her attributes and skills is 1 (a few entries such as Science, Farming and Cooking are 1.2). Strength, Toughness, Dexterity, Perception, every weapon skill, athletics and medical skills all start from nothing.

Her equipment is equally worthless: a Long Cleaver on her back with a 50/50 chance of being either Rusted Junk or Rusting Blade grade, and on her body a turtleneck, work trousers and wooden sandals — three garments with no coverage whatsoever, so armour ratings do not even apply to them.

Put differently, 3,000 Cats buys not combat power but a vessel with no bad habits and no advantages either. Her value depends entirely on how much training time the player is willing to invest; anyone who wants to go straight into a fight will get far more out of spending that money elsewhere.
