Cleanser UnitReport
English:Cleanser Unit · Creatures
A huge, leviathan-like machine patrolling the Ashlands. Its stats are only average, but it carries over twelve thousand points of health — and it is the only renewable source of AI Cores in the game, so people keep coming for it.
Cleanser Units are huge machines that patrol the Ashlands, belonging to the Old Machines faction. Fandom's description is blunt: leviathan-like robots.
They are not the strongest enemy out there, but they are the most worth planning a trip around — because they are the only "renewable" source of AI Cores in the game.
Why you should care
The ancient ruins of the Ashlands and Deadlands do contain AI Cores, but those are one-off: loot them and they are gone. Cleanser Units respawn, which makes them a mine you can work repeatedly.
Full drop from a single kill:
| Item | Quantity |
|---|---|
| AI Core | 1 |
| CPU Unit | 4 |
| Copper Alloy Plates | 20 |
| Electrical Components | 20 |
| Iron Plates | 20 |
| Skeleton Eye | 3 |
| Skeleton Muscle | 6 |
That pile weighs a great deal, so work out how you are hauling it before you swing — one kill needs several backpacks, or several trips.
Twelve and a half thousand points of punching bag
The Cleanser Unit's stats are actually unremarkable: Melee Attack, Melee Defence, Strength, Dexterity, Toughness and Athletics are all 50, Martial Arts 5. By Ashlands standards that does not make the top of the enemy list.
The real problem is its bulk:
| Body part | Health | Chance of hitting |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 2,000 | 100 |
| Chest | 2,000 | 100 |
| Stomach | 2,500 | 100 |
| Right arm | 1,500 | 100 |
| Left arm | 1,500 | 100 |
| Right leg | 1,500 | 50 |
| Left leg | 1,500 | 50 |
Oil 5,000, bleed rate 0.3. This means a Cleanser Unit fight takes a very long time, and a long fight is itself the risk — the Ashlands is not a place to linger.
Combat move speed ×5
Its base speed is only 4–9 mph, slow enough that you might expect to simply walk away. But its combat move speed multiplier is 5 — the moment it enters combat it becomes a fast-moving target.
Most animals slow down in combat (Bonedogs sit at 0.7), and the Blood Spider's 2 is already extreme. A multiplier of 5 is another tier entirely. Add 3 extra attack slots (it can strike several targets at once) and a bunched-up party gets very ugly very fast.
Its damage formula matches its factional cousin the Iron Spider:
Cut = 23 + roughly 0.88 – 0.91 × (Martial Arts + Dexterity)
The 23 is 13 minimum cut damage plus 10 piercing damage.
Other figures: hunger rate 0, vision range multiplier 0.6, heal rate 1, oil (blood) colour RGB 36 36 36, pathfind footprint radius 40 — that last number is enormous, and reflects how much terrain its body occupies for pathing purposes.
It attracts "Birds"
Fandom records that Cleanser Units attract 'Birds'. The flying creatures of the Ashlands trail along with them, so a flock circling in the distance usually means a Cleanser Unit is walking underneath it.
For the player that is a free early warning: visibility in the Ashlands is poor and the terrain is broken, so the birds often enter your view well before the machine does.
How they spawn
There is only one squad a Cleanser Unit can spawn in, named robo levi in the FCS — short for "robotic leviathan". That squad spawns exactly one Cleanser Unit, at an age multiplier of 0.65 to 0.9.
However, multiple squads can be spawned in simultaneously in different parts of the Ashlands. So one trip may cross more than one Cleanser Unit — they simply never gather into a group.
What it means for the player
- Early game: don't. The Ashlands is endgame territory; something else will finish you long before you arrive.
- Mid-to-late game: worth a dedicated trip. One Cleanser Unit is one AI Core, and AI Cores are the key material for skeleton limbs, high-tier research and several building technologies — as well as being worth a fortune.
- How to fight it: bring supplies, make sure no Iron Spiders or Skeleton patrols are nearby, spread your party out to blunt its multi-target attacks, and accept that this will be a long war of attrition. It does not heal itself. You do.
