The BastionReport
English:The Bastion · Locations
The Cannibal Hunters' only permanent holding in the world — one Bughouse and two watchtowers. Its leader will sell you mercenaries to fight cannibals, and he himself walked away from a cannibal cookpot.
The Bastion is the faction headquarters of the Cannibal Hunters, sitting on the border of Sinkuun and Darkfinger, very close to Bast. It is the only fixed holding this faction owns anywhere in the world; everything else they have is a randomly spawning camp.
Where it is
Sinkuun is where the Empire's leftovers ended up — farmers behind on their taxes, wanted ronin, hive villages that moved north out of Vain. The Bastion guards its south-western edge, and past that edge the land belongs to the cannibals.
Cannibal Hunter camps also spawn randomly in Sinkuun, the Hidden Forest and the Northern Coast, but those are temporary and disappear. To find Robun you have to come here.
What is here
The Bastion is tiny. Three buildings, total.
- The Bughouse — the faction HQ, with Cannibal Hunter Robun inside
- A watchtower
- A second watchtower, partly in ruins
No shops, no bar, nothing for sale. This is not a settlement; it is a forward post.
Who lives here
Cannibal Hunter Robun leads them and is stationed in the Bughouse. He is the younger brother of the author of the Captive's Journal Series and most likely the sole survivor of the events those journals describe — which is to say this organisation is headed by a man who walked away from a cannibal cookpot.
Alongside him the post is garrisoned by large numbers of Cannibal Hunters, the elite Cannibal Hunter Captains, and the faction's own Mountain Dogs.
The Cannibal Hunters also have a habit almost nobody else in Kenshi shares — they will heal wounded strangers on sight, whoever the stranger is. In a world where most factions look at an unconscious body and think about looting or shackles, that is worth remembering.
Why the player cares
The Bastion sells no goods. It sells a service. For a squad that cannot yet clear a cannibal village on its own, this is the one place where the cannibal problem can be outsourced.
It is also where a story lands. The author of the journals, who watched his family carved up, did not survive. His little brother did, and turned the rest of his life into an organisation that exists to kill cannibals. No line of dialogue joins those dots for you — you have to read the journals, and then walk up to this Bughouse.
