Sonorous DarkReport
English:Sonorous Dark · Locations
Volcanic wasteland. Skin Bandits. Main settlements: Skinhouse HQ, Skinhouse, Barrier Tower.
Contents
The porch of the Ashlands: a volcanic belt the acid rain never puts out. Something shaped like a man will come out to greet you warmly, call you brother of flesh, then carry you back to the Skinhouse — under the skin they are Skeletons, and human skin rots fast, so the hunting never stops.

| Savant | Hostile boss | On the throne or in the bed at Skinhouse HQ | The Skin Bandits' only living leader, carrying a Meitou nodachi, the skinning machine blueprints and the Skeleton-to-Human conversion bible. Only Skeleton characters can join him; Shek and Hive can talk to him but still get carried into the skinner once they go down. When he falls the HQ becomes a ruin and the Skin Bandit base raids stop altogether. |
History
- The usual reading is that the Skin Bandits formed after the Second Empire fell: a batch of Skeletons that escaped enthralment stayed behind in these old mine workings, their CPUs never reset, and the duty to protect humans fermented into a faith in becoming one.
- The Legion raised the Barrier Tower here to seal off the coastal shortcut into the Ashlands — the wall is there for the living to read; the harpoon turrets on top do not distinguish.
- The one human here sits on top of the machines, trading a single skinning machine for the position of demigod and the whole of the loot.

The channel's verdict: Recommended with caveats
- Hazards Acid rain is continuous, so humanoid characters need acid protection such as a Dustcoat, an Iron Hat, Drifters Leather Pants or Crab Armour.[V1 0:02:13]

- Other Power: none is available on site, so you have to bring the resources to build generators yourself, and dedicate characters to turning crops into fuel.[V1 0:01:06]
- Raids The main hostile force is the Skin Bandits, who move in large groups; being carried off here does not mean slavery, it means the whole squad ends up processed into leather. Take out the leader at their HQ and the difficulty of the entire zone drops sharply.[V1 0:02:47]
- Raids Other spawns: mobs of Iron Spiders (slow, but you are standing still while you build a base), the Skeleton Legion and Sniperbots — Black Gorillos turn out to be the easiest thing you will fight here.[V1 0:04:28]
- Other Cost of defence: from the moment you land you need extensive fortifications and Harpoon Turrets. The manpower and resource requirements are the highest in the game, and Paul Rogers describes the supply list as what a fallout shelter would need.[V1 0:01:39]
- Other Location value: it sits right next to the Ashlands and other endgame locations, and works as a place to rest and store items after you have finished touring them.[V1 0:08:23]
