Shek RuinsReport

English:Shek Ruins · Locations

A cluster of wrecked Shek buildings on a rocky hill east of Admag, right on the road towards Squin. No guards, just rusted weapons and stone scattered across the ground — a border post from the last time the Shek were prosperous.

Shek Ruins is a group of destroyed buildings owned by the Shek Kingdom. It sits on top of a rocky hill east of Admag, easily reached on the way towards Squin — the most accessible ruin in the Stenn Desert, with no climb, no fight and no lock.

What it used to be

Six structures stand here — 2 Watchtowers, 1 Snailhouse, 1 L-House, 1 Bughouse, 1 Y-House.

Two towers plus four dwellings reads like a border outpost from the Shek Kingdom's more prosperous past, perhaps destroyed in their war with The Holy Nation.

The Stenn Desert gets no rain and grows nothing; scrape the surface and you hit the last civilisation's concrete and rebar. The Shek chose the least habitable land on the continent for a homeland precisely because there is nothing here worth taking. These ruins are the counterexample — somebody once came to take it anyway.

What is lying around

The items are strewn about the entire place. Nothing is locked and nothing is watching them.

NoteRusted Junk and Rusting Blade are the two worst weapon models in the game. The same weapon does nearly six times more cut damage at Meitou than at Rusted Junk. The fifteen weapons here are not for using. They are for selling.

Why the player cares

The role of the Shek Ruins is clear — this is the first stop for a squad that just started.

It sits next to the Shek capital, has no guards, no weather hazard and no entry requirement, and one sweep yields 17 Raw Stone and 8 Raw Iron, which is roughly what a new squad needs for its first few structures. The three sets of Rusty Chainmail are poor armour, but early in Kenshi the gap between wearing armour and wearing nothing is the gap between living and dying.

As for the fifteen pieces of rusted scrap — hauling them to Squin or Admag is many players' first real income.
