Luquin is a unique recruit locked in a cage in Tengu's Vault. He carries a 30,000 Cats bounty and has a Brave personality.
What he did
Luquin was imprisoned for murdering Noble Lord Kurusaga and sending death threats to the other nobles. On capture he was paraded in shackles through the streets of Heng — Crumblejon was one of the people who saw it.
Once inside the Vault he was forced to write a book: Beautiful Tengu: A Tribute, in praise of the Emperor.
Two other books, Legend of Luquin I and II (Legend of Luquin Series), appear to be about him.
By the time the game begins, he has been in the Vault for fifteen years.
Opening the cage
Recruiting him is as simple as it gets: unlock the cage and he joins your faction. No payment.
The moment it opens:
Good work, brother... Name's Lu. Not much good without a weapon. First things first, let's find some swords.
Once he is out of the Vault with you, the lines pick up his fifteen years:
Ah, fresh air never tasted so good. Fifteen years I've been locked up in that place. Say, Tengu still running the Empire these days? ...It's been a while. I owe him a visit. You just unleashed his worst nightmare. But a lot can change in fifteen years. I'm gonna need you. A skilled boy like you, with a vendetta against the Empire at that. This time we won't fail.
Is he worth taking
Luquin is not a brawler, he is a specialist. His numbers sit on the stealth track:

Stealth 50 with Assassination 50 is a genuinely useful starting point — he can knock people out and carry them off the day he joins, where most recruits would have to grind up from nothing. His straight fighting is unremarkable, and he arrives with nothing but a Rag Loincloth; the weapon is on you.
