General JangReport
English:General Jang · Characters
Commander of the Second Empire's Hydraulic Knights, dubbed "the Inedible One" by the Cannibals; the Meitou-grade Guardless Katana and the CPU he carries are the two most valuable prizes in the Ashlands — and taking the CPU is the same as killing him.
General Jang is the commander of the Second Empire's Hydraulic Knights, a Skeleton P4MkII chassis. He remains to this day inside Ashland Dome III in the Ashlands, with five Hydraulic Knights at his side.
The Cannibals gave him a title: the Inedible One — because he is made of metal and cannot be chewed.
The fall of the Hydraulic Knights
The description on the CPU he carries is itself a complete tragedy:
The knights were originally the empire's frontline heroes, tasked with holding off pirates and Cannibals, and their record was distinguished. But as time went on, the label "pirate" was applied ever more loosely — until in the end, more of their own people died on their blades than ever died at the hands of actual pirates.
The text does not explain when or in what form the knights came to an end. What is certain is that General Jang now stands guard over a ruin, and the empire that ordered him to sweep it clean ceased to exist long ago.
Combat stats
For a Skeleton P4MkII, he is top of the line:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Strength / Toughness / Dexterity | 85 each |
| Heavy Weapons, Blunt | 102 |
| Sabres, Hackers, Polearms | 85 |
| Katanas | 68 |
| Melee Attack / Melee Defence | 85 |
| Turrets, Precision Shooting | 85 |
| Assassination | 42.5 |
| Perception | 1 |
| Dodge / Martial Arts | 6.8 / 8.5 |
In other words he takes a beating, hits hard and is highly trained, but he barely dodges at all and his perception amounts to total blindness. His armour is Specialist grade (5% chance of Masterwork), and his weapon came from the hand of the legendary smith Cross.
The fatal weakness
This means there are in fact two ways to beat him: cut him down in a straight fight, or knock him out (or drop him with an assassination) and simply pull the parts out. The latter yields two high-value items at once: the CPU sells for 72,000 Cats, making it one of the most valuable portable objects in the game, while the AI Core averages 25,000 Cats.
Purely in terms of profit efficiency, the return on a trip to Ashland Dome III is remarkable — the dome itself holds a further 5 AI Cores, along with a batch of fixed-spawn ancient weapon blueprint-grade loot (including another Guardless Katana, a Catun-grade Foreign Sabre, a polearm katana and more).
